Why is there antifreezes leaking out of bell housing on a 1999 dodge Cummings diesel engine, is it a freeze plug or a crack in block

there almost certainly will be a freezeplug in that area , but first make completely sure the coolant isn't leaking higher up and looks like from bell housing , get the area steam cleaned and make sure it's not from the head gasket or another freeze plug , 30 minutes spent doing this could save you time and money dropping the gearbox etc , hope this helps

2005 saturn Ion slave cylinder

With it being in the bell housing, which I think is one of the stupidest tricks the auto industry has ever played on us,it just neans the transmission has to come out before you can get to it.Then pull the bell housing off.Plan on a good full day of work my friend.

Ive got a 94 firebird with bad freeze plugs how much should it cost to replace

Gday mate, geoff here, well yes i think you should, as they keep the coolant in, now if they are bad, you will find the worst one in the bell housing which means engine/gearbox out to replace, the ones on the side are easy, but make sure before you do remove either engine/gearbox that there really is one in the back of the engine block inside the bell housing, for if you replace the ones you can see then the weak link will be the one(s) that you couldn't see, hope this helps, geoff.

I need to find out where the coolant sensor is located on a 1997 saturn sl series.

underneath the battery, which sits inside a big black box, is the bell housing. the bell housing is shaped like a bell, oddly enough, and it mates the transmission to the engine. at the top most point of the bell housing you will see a pair of wires connected to the tip of something which appears to be screwed into the side of the engine. it is screwed in there and it is the temp sensor. when you take it out, antifreeze will come out in a trickle so make sure it is not hot and you have the new one ready to screw right in immediately. it is a plumbing thread so do not go gorilla on it, snug it in and then a half turn.

My 1984 dodge 150 truck is leaking coolant, and a fairly quick rate. Id like to know where are some of the more common places that this coudl be coming from, also, the coolant gauge doesnt work, so that...

check your hoses, the clamps where the hoses attach, thermostat housing and the core of your radiator. these are the most common places. more serious problems could be the heater core or a head gasket. the most serious problem would be from a freeze out plug located on the side of the engine below the exaust manifold. there could be several reasons your guage doesnt work but first i would try to located the leak.

If the clutch slave cylinder on my 2005 Saturn Vue is internal to the transmission, how would the fluid have poured out onto my garage floor? I think the transmission dude might be pulling my leg to the...

No its internal meaning that its in the bell housing. The bell housing is bolted to the gearbox to hous the clutch befor being bolted to the engine. It has no seal on it.So when your slave cylinder leaks,The fluid drips from the bell housing. And the only way to get at it is to remove the gearbox.
