Question about Jeep Liberty

Open Question

My 2002 jeep Liberty BCM melted, I bought a used one from salvage yard, there is a six month difference in delivery dates, new one is newer. after installing the used one car starts and runs fine all accessories work except raido. But the main problem is that the RKE fob will not shut off the VTSS system (headlights and horn flash when key is on. Dealer tells me they cannot reflash BCM. Is there something out there avaiable to reflash and get it to respond to the RKE fob?

SOURCE: 2002 montana program key fob

Key fobs tend to hold their code indefintely. The batteries in them are probably burnt. Open up one of the fobs and replace the battery (hearing aid type) then they should work fine. Good Luck!~

SOURCE: key fob remote start issues

You need to get one that works on the same wide range frequency as the reciever in the car, and then it's a simple matter of opening both the new and old fobs, and matching the fine frequency settings by putting the little switches inside where they should be according to the old fob's switches. If there are no switches in the old fob, it's preset and there's not much you can do about it.

I have a 95 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 6 cylinder and I need a new tranny but I have one from a 99 grand Cherokee. Will the 99 tranny work in the 95?

A salvage yard would have the interchange books to tell you for sure. The newer trans may have more electronics.

2002 BCM replacement, hard to do ?

I assume you have a Regal or Century because those are the Buicks most noted for this problem. Replacing the bcm is very simple. It is a black box located just above the floor on the drivers side, to the left of the brake pedal. Problem is new bcms require programming by the dealer, at a cost somewhere in the 80 to 100 dollar range. I have also been told used bcms cannot be reprogrammed, so buying one from your local salvage yard is a waste of time and money. Understand I own a salvage yard, so I am problably telling the truth about this.

Sometimes JC Whitney will have those trim pieces, or some other online source if you google it and search a while. Other than that, you can try salvage yards in your area to locate one, or call a jeep dealer to order you a new one made for your specific vehicle body style.

If all the bulbs and fuses are in good condition, the fault lies in the BCM. This is the unit that encases all the fuses and acts as the internal relay centre for the interiors functions and exterior lighting. This is not uncommon for all Chrysler products. Look in your area at local salvage/auto recycling yards for this component. Make sure that ALL numbers match. If you get one with a different number somethings may not work or may not work properly. Let me know what you find.

2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7L Engine Swap to newer 2004 engine

Has anyone made this work yet? I have the same problem 2002 jeep 3.7 and just installed a 04 motor. Timing is off. Some one had a good idea of mounting the crank gear to the out side of the harmonic ballancer and mounting the sensor with a bracket. What about the cam gear on the left side. Does the timing cahain have to come off to remove it? Or has any one swaped the wiring harnest, and computer.
Please email me back. pcardoso@cogeco.ca Thanks for your help.

BCM

Well, on your first answer, it could have been said it's behind the fuse box simply put but nonetheless, we bought a BCM from a salvage yard and asked that guy about the screws and he told us.I was not impressed with the one answer I got from Fix Ya.
