It used R12 originally, u can still buy that on ebay if u have a valid HVAC license, otherwise you must convert the system to the new non ozone harming R134A refrigerant, they sell kits to do this conversion at better auto part stores like Napa and Carquest, beware of the cheaper kits.

you always connect fitting to low pressure side. the cap has a " L " on it. the fittings with freon only fit the low side connection. follow hoses back from a/c pump and you will find the low pressure fitting. have a good day !

Coolent seems to be leaking from what looks like a sensor of some kind. It is located in the block by cylinder #1 on the firewall side. What is this and can it leak coolent-is it hard to replace?

This is the coolant temp sensor its pretty simple I would first try tightening it up you can even remove it and add some #1 permatex or silicone then reinstall.

Where do i put in th recharge coolent for the

There are 2 service valves on this modl of escort, one located on the right hand side of the radiator as you face the engine and one located next to the accumulator by the firewall on the passengers side. The high pressuresde is the one to the right of the radiator, and the suction side is close to the accumulator on the passengers side. Put freon in the passenger side next to the accumulator. The high pressure side is strictly for checking the head pressure, do not try to put freon in that side. Look for around 40 psi on the low side .. There are more technical ways to do this but this will get you into the right area. If you don't have a guage, add freon until the fan clutch quits cycling at fast idle.

Need to change coolent in radiater ,does this take a special kind of coolent and do i need to use a special type of radiater flush. Also is there a drain on the radiater?

You don't need to use a special kind of radiator flush, but the coolant is called DEX COOL. It's made by prestone specifically for GM engines, you can get it at walmart for like 5 bucks.

The ac don't blow cool when the temperature riseI am driving a 2005 Excursion

Many things could be effecting this.

You may need to recharge your ac condenser with R134a.
If the AC condenser does not need recharging, check to see if your serpentine belt is engaging the unit properly. and cross your fingers and hope its not this, but if nothing else, it be shot and need a total replacement.
