Question about Nissan Altima

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Nissan Altima GXE, have changed altenator and left battery unhooked for 24 hrs. Now I can not keep car running, donot have inside working lights or anything to do with the power system locks, windows etc. Have checked fuses and worked on security system and still cannot get anything to work properly. I have also left the switch on for 10 mins. and then cut off and tried cranking. Have any suggestors?

The battery should be dead by the way you describe it...so just jump start the car from another car...if that doesn't work then you might need a new battery if the battery is too old...like 4-5 years old...
Good Luck!

it is very simple. if you lay down underneath the car and look up at the oil filter it is just above the oil filter. you should be able to get it out with a 12mm wrench.

Battery is not charging, believe alternater is bad

You can check the voltage with a meter or you can crank the car and with it running unhook the pos side battery post and if the car goes dead the altenator is bad if it keeps running your battery is bad or somthing is draining it.

1998 Nissan Altima GXE squealing noise

Could be the bearings in your alternator have gone dry and your alternator is about to quit out on you. I had a friend with an 01 altima and we could always hear him coming before we saw him because of this very problem. Changed the alternator out and noise went away. Thanks for using FixYa!
