I have a Volvo S 60 T S 2001 1984cc the problem is when engine is running on tickover press the acelerator down fast and the engine will hic up. but will rev with no problem. However on driving car from pulling away is a problem as pick is not imediate, also when running at slower speeds the engine will cough. I have changed the air flow meter and replaced spark plugs. There are no fault codes on the OBD11 diagnostics scan.have you any ideas many thanks Steve.

fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail is probably it or the egr valve is stuck open allowing burnt fuel to flood the intake, im leaning towards the fuel pressure regulator because the o2sensor is probably reading rich or if its reading lean then i would choose the egr valve . good luck

sounds like coil pack, when your coils break down due to age the spark then jumps from the side of the coil to the alloy head, i would recomend taking the coils out and getting them tested to be 100%.

SOURCE: tick over problem

Sounds like it could be a bad EGR valve, the trans fault codes of p1775 is nothing really, it could even be the fact that you are putting the car in gear at 3,000 revs.
If this is an intermittant problem then it goes right back to the egr valve. They clog and stick and will cause bad/rough idle issues especially on start up and also will cause spiratic idle problems.

SOURCE: I got audi a6 2.8 lit. The engine misfires

I have a 1999 A6 2.8, and my car was doing the same thing. However, after spending about a $1,000.00 I took it to another dealership. they replaced the fuel filter, it was dirty from putting cheap 91 gas in the car. Once it was replaced the car ran like new. I had to replace it around 80,000 miles. Hope this helps

The engine shakes bad when starting and running

There could be a number of reasons for this. If one of your cylinders is not firing it will shudder on tickover and as the engine speed rises it will smooth out. Have your spark plug leads been connected up in the right order. The clutch plate could have been distorted when the engine was fitted or the clutch plate could be contaminated with oil or both. If the problem just started when the new engine was fitted this could be the answer. Another possibility is that your engine mountings have failed or are soft.

Only in morning i need to put gas in carb to start it and its geat for the rest of the day very little gas and fast to start

I would check the choke to see if it is close if not try ajusting it by losening the three screws on the right side of carb (passenger side car not running) hold acelerator left side open slitely turn black part of choke to the left till choke just closes release acelerato tighten the three scews if all that is ok check to see if by pressing acelerator with choke open if you see gas squirting (car not running)

If i put on my a/c the performance of my engine drops causing my car to vibrate.

as the car gets older it will vibrate more.small engine(relatively)to a big power drain(the a/c) nearly 25% of engine power is taken up with the running of a/c on full. if you try to increase the tickover, when the a/c is not on the engine will run too fast....

I have 4A-FE Motor but if i run the air conditioning RPM counter down to 0.8 ???

the power drain with a/c is about 25% so you would expect a drop in revs at tickover, but the engine electronics will keep tickover to about 800 to 1000 depending on ambient/start temp. nothing to worry about.
if you had a 4ltr engine the drop would be next to nothing......but the fuel consumption.........

Jeep Cherrokee 4 litre tickover to fast? what is

Slight language barrier here "tickovers?" But, I think you need to clean out the throttle body. If that doesn't help, check for vacuum leaks in lines and if necessary clean the idle air control valve. Once removed from the TB, do not turn the plunger, just clean it and the passageway in the TB. Take care not to loose the rubber "O" ring.

When I go 3000 rpm the aceleration is not good. What would it be?

MAFS are common on Volvo especially the ones using the Renault engines. Could also be a TPS fault, you need it putting on a data-reader to explore the values in live data whilst taking it up over 3000rpm. The fault will be highlighted.

Engine hunts at tickover going down to 500 revs and up to 1100 any suggestions New ecu fitted 2000 miles ago

This is most probaly a sticky trottle control whitch need to be replaced and then updated with new software.
Dealers are aware of this trouble, but most offen denies the fact if you ask.

1987 volvo 244 intermittent fast idle floods after shut down

The coolant temp sensor sends signal to the ECU and the ECU adjusts the idle RPM. When the coolant is cold, the engine requires more fuel to sustain idle with thick oil (oil gets thicker & more viscous when cold). This makes the engine to idle at faster RPM but it should settle down to 850 RPM or so after the coolant warms up. The sensor is nothing but a thermistor; a device that changes electrical resistance according to the coolant temperature.

Turn ignition fully on, without the engine running, press the acelerator fully down three times within five seconds.
