Question about 2006 Nissan Murano

1 Answer

The latching device on my Murano has come loose. The Nissan dealership says they can cut through the metal and get to the piece that has dropped off - for $450 - but that's all I've got right now.

Hatch latch will not shut, not matter how hard you shut it.

try unlocking it while its open sometimes they get jammed up by trying to close them and the latch will get hung up in the closed position if you take the key and hold it in the unlock position (don't release ) and then try to manuver the metal latching part it will pop loose ,doors are famous for this !

Where is the cabin filter on a 2011 Nissan Murano?

Ok, there can be two ways to do this. On some Nissans you can drop the glove box out without actually removing anything by collapsing the side stops in slightly. This should allow the glove box to "drop" back enough to get straight to the small door for the filter.
Failing that, remove the 3 screws running underneath the glove box and 4 along the top, (with the door open), 1 in each corner and 2 through the latch. With these out you can pull the lower dash trim/glove box assembly as one piece giving you a direct shot at the filter door.
Good luck.

What kind of transmission fluid is required for nissan murano

The Murano uses a special CVT fluid that is available only at your dealership. 1 Qt cost me around 17.00 a few years back for my 06 Murano. The fluid is perfectly clear-unlike other transmission fluids and is designed just for the CVT.

Floppy visors in 2005 Murano

I'd recommend checking salvage/junk yards, ebay for used ones. The visor mounts are worn, this is whats causing them to drop. These worn parts are not sold seperately. hopefully this helps!!

The hatch latch will not release on 2003 nissan Murano even when working levers on inside panel

this one is hard to describe. you just have to find the sweet spot to release the mechanism. its in there, i have done a couple of those. you will need new latch to replace it with. lube the new latch plenty, before you install it.

The passenger side visor drops down constantly. Any way to fix? The dealer wants $400+ for a new one

Numerous consumers have reported problems with their driver's side sun visor suddenly dropping and blocking visibility, which presents a safety issue. (See: Nissan Murano .ORG,,

In almost all cases, Nissan is passing the cost of replacement onto the consumer for this defective product, and has refused to take responsibility, or to issue a recall. I've gone through three replacements myself with no relief from Nissan, and the third one has now failed.

I encourage everyone who is experiencing a mechanical failure with their driver's side sun visor to put pressure on Nissan to correct this problem by filing a report with:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration2_bing.gif (888) 327-4236 (you will need your VIN#);
Bureau of Automotive Repair (800) 952-5210;
Used Car Sales- Department of Motor Vehicles (800) 777-0133(or your local DMV investigations office listed in your phone book);
Department of Consumer Affairs (800) 952-5210 Recalls; and
Better Business Bureau- Autoline (800) 955-5100.

You also might want to consider filing a small claims court action, or class action lawsuit.

2003 Nissan Murano hatch back door won't unlock or open. Glitchy for a long time, always opened eventually with a ritual of locking/unlocking using the remote/lock on the door, etc. Upon opening,...

I have a 2004 Murano. I opened the small hatch and with a screw driver and someone on the outside managed to open the hatch. The problem appears to be bent pieces inside. After straightening them out and using a good silicon spray, mine works again. It should be lubricated quite frequently.

Nissan Altima fuel filler release latch broke ... need alternate

Never heard of anything like that.  But those latches are not as secure as most think, just take a flathead screwdriver, put a piece of cloth around it to protect your paint, and pry the door open, just when you think it's about to break something...pop, it opens just like that.  I've done this quite a few times, only broke one so far.  :-P

Have you checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge? Sounds like the oil pump isn't putting out enough pressure and/or volume at idle speed.
