Question about Toyota Celica

1 Answer

I bought a 2000 Toyota Gt 2 months ago, I checked the oil and dip stick was dry. I filled it up with oil and drove 500 miles, checked the oil and it was gone! No leakage, smoke but rich soot in the tail pipe...what is wrong? I cannot afford a 30.00 oil bill every month!

thank you, the dealer where i bought the car said there is nothing wrong because it doesn't smokes or leak....I cannot afford a serious car problem, and shouldn't toyota been made to fix the problem earlier than 2003????

and the oil used is 5--w30.....what about a engine flushing, could it be gummed up around the rings.....sounds like the oil is going to the wrong part of my engine and burns black, rich soot in my tail pipe...what a mess I am in....

Its allways and will be a forever problem. What I was told is there are bad piston rings on the early 1ZZ engines; nothing you do could change that, unless you wanna swap out an '03 and up motor 1ZZ, that would fix that problem. Its the material of the rings in teh early 1ZZ, you can tear it down and rebuild it with new rings, while you are in there, might as well replace all the bearings and gaskets.

But if your engine run good, and smooth... best thing is to check up and make sure you add oil as needed. Are you using reg motor oil, or the sythenic stuff?

Just try 10w-30 high mileage oil and see if oil consumption decreases.

Keep us updated.

Try starting now. If knocking still, turn off immediately. Pull the engine oil dip stick with the engine off and check the oil level. If a foamy brown fluid (or droplets of water) is on the dip stick and it appears overfilled then water got into your oil and may have damaged the motor. You may be lucky if you have the oil/water mix removed and fresh oil and filter installed. Try running then and see if any better.

Engine ran out oil every 3 weeks

out? as in oil pan is empty or dips stick shows. ZERO oil?
weeks dont count.
1: miles only count , 1./3 quart (liter) per 3000 miles is good.
2:or drips on pavement.

btw i can do this on a new car, just driving way too fast i can drop oil level by 1/2 court in 1 week. about 500 miles.

tell how low the dip stick got in how many miles and speed you drive.
we have 85mph here and way faster on the autobahn.
no locating stated. here is USA< and dallas.

Smoking auto tranny

I had a similar problem with my ford 1/2 ton pulling a trailer on a grade against the wind on hot day. thought I completely fried the tranny. Let it cool off, continued the trip and drove the truck for years with no more problems. Can't explain how your dip stick was dry however. The dipstick should have been wet with foamed trans oil.

The oil has to be going somewhere. Just to clarify, when you say no oil on the dip stick, You do mean when checking the oil correct? If your not leaking oil, then perhaps you are burning oil? How often do you add oil to this vehicle and how many miles are on this vehicle?
