Engine light and traction control light on 2006 chevy hhr

Traction control usually uses part of your ABS brake system to function. Sometimes a dirty (or worn out) wheel sensor is the problem that triggers both "check engine" and "traction control"...This can be verified with the proper diagnostic meter, and many shops will perform this test for free...unfortunately the free check at the auto parts stores does not include reading the ABS/Traction sensors...sensor cost is about $65. sometimes they can be cleaned. Hope this helps.

Check engine light on

When any vehicle engine light comes on it generates a code, that code is read by a diagnostic tool that reads identifies and displays the code(s), to indicate the problem the senors have detected.

Codes can be reset to recheck if the fault is genuine or not, but without the tool its difficult to determine the cause of the engine light appearing.

Read the manufacturers suggestions or call a garage for a diagnostic quote.

What is the problem if the check engine light is on???

The check engine light comes on to let you know a censer is out or receiving an improper reading. Its probably your oxygen censer. I would take it down and have a diagnostic done, to make sure. There are several censers that could have went out.

I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu and when I drive it the check ingine light and the traction control light comes on and the car turns off. What is wrong with it?

Many things can cause these lights to come on. In order to answer this question, you will need to have a scan tool read the diagnostic code(s) stored in the engine computer. Many auto parts stores will read these codes for you for free.

Service engine light an noise

the only way to tell why the check engine light is on is to have the engine codes read by diagnostic scanner or if you have a self servicable computer under passenger seat. It is usually due to bad sensor or circuit which you can test with an ohmmeter

Check engine light

Hey, Lisa!
I had a problem with my 2004 Chevy Cavalier doing this - Try taking it to Autozone for a free diagnostics. I did this and replced the gas cap. The seal was bad and when I replaced the cap, the check engine light went out after a little bit.

Check your fuse to your cigarette lighter then go back to autozone and see if they can get codes to pull. I have seen this before. Hope this helps.
