SOURCE: 04 chev optra i have

I have a similar problem with my 2005 Optra 5 - daytime running lights are hit/miss. About 3-4 years ago, the alarm started activating itself - FREQUENTLY. Turns out it was corroded wires. Now this. (Take heart - my Corolla had a similar problem - bad sockets - bulbs burned out faster than they could be replaced. Toyota never did admit responsibility.)

Low beam failure would lead to reduced visibility during hours of darkness. DRL failure may render the vehicle less visible to other motorists and pedestrians during daylight hours. Both cases could lead to a vehicle crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will add a direct connection splice clip to the headlamp low beam circuit in order to bypass the faulty connector. SOURCE: daytime running lights and low beam lights not

I just worked on a Pontiac Sunfire on a light issue. The driving lights are on a separate switch on a 2003 from the dimmer switch. Have you checked to make sure both low beam light bulbs for your headlights are not burnt out on low beam? Have you checked to make sure you have power to the low beam where the connector connects onto the bulb?

I live in Australia & I don't fully understand the term " daytime running lights " but high beam & low beam lights are on separate fuses as is the parking lights so you probably have a blown fuse, check all the fuses in the fuse box......hope this helps......cheers.

2002 Dodge Caravan headlamps: one works on dim the other works on high beam but not together. Also only one daytime running lamp.

Your van has dual diligent headlamp bulbs, that means each headlight has one bulb that serves as high beam and low beam. What has most likely happened is on one side the low beam filament has burnt out, and on the other side the high beam filiment has burnt out. The daytime running lights are just the high beam filament running on reduced power, so if the high beam doesn't work on one side, that same side will have no daytime running light. Replace both headlamp bulbs with matching, good quality bulbs.

Running lights, high beam but no low beam headlights. Has daytime running lights but when you turn the headlights on ,no low beam but they work with the day time running lights?

I would check the switch which is separate from the module that controls the daytime running lamps.
Check for fuses blown for the headlamps.

Also, check for the relay operation by following the wires back to it, if so equipped.

Check for a good ground for the headlamp wires that you follow back to make sure they are solidly connected to a ground.

Good luck on this repair.

Auto lighting of daytime running (low beam) lamps

Yes. These are called DRL's or daytime running lights. It is law that vehicles manufactured after 1985 must have low amperage lighting on while running.
