Question about 2003 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I just recently purchased a 2003 Toyota Camry form a co-worker. The car has never had any major issues and has been serviced regularly. The check engine light came on so I took it to a Toyota dealership. They said it was a PO420 code indicating an issue with the EVAC system and catalytic converter. They recommended replacement for the cat. conv., spark plugs and completing a fuel service.

Well What I do is go to a service shop,, Have them Break the Converter Out and that usually works unless you have emission issues which mean you have to replace it.. as for replacing the spark plugs, wires and cleaning the injectors ,, thats a standered service and should be done regularly as it keeps the car intack ,, no reason why you shouldnt do it,, also change the filter as it protects the injectors from stary particles..

EVAC ,, sensors and these codes do occur after a times,, depends on the life of the product,, so chances are its failed and needs replacing and the error codes cleared..

I am planning to buy used Toyota Camry 2003 with 131K mileage on it. Can you please tell me common problems which I should be looking in it before buying the same.

This particular vehicle is very dependable and reliable. You will get normal maintenence issues brakes/belts etc. However, in my experience, I cannot think of any major issues this model has been troubled with. It would be a good idea to have a pro dp a pre purchase inspection to determine if there are any signs of collission or abnormal engine noises etc. before you by.

2003 Toyota camry stalled at red light once and is now running fine. Should I worry

Does not sound serious as long as the car otherwise seems to be doing what it should. Don't drive if the engine is running hot or it is leaking fluids. Start with fuel filter or faulty fuel pump. Could be other things but if the car has had regular servicing then should not be anything major eg broken breather hoses . I would get a mechanical inspection for piece of mind.

How do you check 2012 camry transmission fluid level

I have a 2012 Toyota Camry. The gearbox is a sealed until. Recently I have investigated about getting it serviced, Mine has just come out of warranty, Toyota dealer is asking $442.00 for service, after speaking with a number of transmission specialists they recommend 40,000 service intervals. Costing approximately $330.00 just ensure your transmission service technician is using the Toyota recommended oil which is "WS"
World standard and nothing different.
