Both the check engine light is on, but I had a mechanic look at it and nothing appeared wrong. It went off for a few days and came back on? Any suggestions as to what my mechanic might have overlooked? Also, the TRAC OFF light is on, what does that mean?

When the CEL is lit the TRAC (tion control) system is often switched off and the warning light is lit to remind you of that fact; this may also involve the ABS (anti lock braking system). The CEL light can come on if you leave your fuel filler cap on loose, the Engine Control Unit (ECU - power control module) sees the loose cap as problem in the fuel vapour evaporative control system and switches on the CEL. Even if the cap is put on firmly it takes some time for the ECU to reset itself. Disconnecting the negative lead to the battery for five minutes is usually enough for the ECU to rest itself and remove the stored error codes.

Yes I have the same problem on all three of my chevrolet vehicles. I have had them all checked out and the mechanic came back and said that their is nothing wrong. If I were you like I did, I checked all of my fluids made sure that they were all correct. The problem could be so small that you would never notice and would do no harm.
you can get the light off if you go to a mechanic with a chip reader but most of them will tell you to just leave it.
I hope this will help with peace of mind that it may be that nothing is wrong thank you

I have a 2003 Mazda protege 5. check engine light no codes

Remove the wire from the negative terminal on the battery and wait a few minutes, then reconnect the wire. This will "reset" the computer and remove the check engine light. If the light comes back on, take it to a Mazda service center and let them read the code. They will be able to tell you what is wrong. Pepboys, Autozone....arent always the smartest cookies and are wrong more than they are right.

In my 2005 honda accord check engine light come on i went to mechanic and he reset the light after few days light come agian

Your check engine light means that your computer thinks that there is something wrong with one of your systems. It is producing a code for the problem, but you can not read the code unless an OBD-II scanner is plugged into the OBD socket under your dashboard. Autozone, or another of the same sort, would be happy to hook their scanner up to your car and tell you what the computer is saying is wrong. There is not charge.
Hope this helps you.
