First of all, make sure the heater core isn't air locked. With the engine running, and your heat temperature on high, loosen one end of the heater hose and see if you can get the air out of it.

does it matter which hose i can loosen , and the clamps that are on them are not the ones that a screwdriver can release they are the clamps that you have to squeeze .

Try and get the return line. I am not sure which one that will be, and i don't have a book on a sunfire. Either one should work . Even if you just squeeze the clamp a bit it should let the air out. Be careful. Don't do it when its hot and scald yourself!

are you talking about your heater core for heat in the truck ? is there a valve in the heater hose that you have to open to get the hoses hot to the core this is under the hood , follow the hoses , could be clogged core , does it over heat , or get up to temp should be about 190 normal temp for most motors why did you change these parts anyhow , did you use the radiator fix bars leak stuff that you put in , bars leak , if so you may have clogged your core , take the hoses off the core and blow it out ,pain in the but you went this far , ck for that valve to open

1976 chevy k10 350cdi base model no ac.will not warm up upper radiator hose gets hot heater lines both get hot but lower hose stays cold. changed thermostat filled till full ran air out of system no c

It sounds like you have a blockage in the system and by the description it sounds as if it is the heater core. The best advise I have is to pull the heater hoses off of the heater core and blow backwards into the core. Next would be to make sure the hoses both heat up, the top and the bottom.

No heat blowing cold air.

Do you smell coolant inside of the vehicle. If so then chances are your heater core is going.

Why does my 02 ram keep blowing out heater cores. third one in a year

Is your antifreeze mixture ratio correct? You have to mix it with water by the capacity of the cooling system. Not enough antifreeze and you get ice in the core. Too much antifreeze is just as bad. Try this... when you expect it will get cold overnight leave the heater controls on heat with the highest temperature setting. Then shut off the truck. You might want to wrap the exposed heater hoses under the hood with insulation like you would use on an outside water faucet

Heat is not hot at all, have flushed cooling system replaced thermostat replaced heater core and blower motor , but not as hot as it should be

check the density of the coolant. Might not have enough pure antifreeze in it. If you recently changed antifreeze, you should have replace with one gallon pure 100% antifreeze and filled remainder with 50/50 mixture. Did you burp the system after you changed all that stuff. Air in line will cause a vapor locj and will not heat well. !00% antifreeze is bad for your system. Last, you may have headgasket problems.

I changed the thermostat on a dodge ram 1999 with a 318 and there is still no real heat it has 141000 km on it and the coolant still looks good

have you backflushed the system? Especially the heater core. They tend to get blocked up and won't provide heat. there are bypasses in the system which will allow the coolant to circulate without going through the heater core. Another thing would be to test your antifreeze for the proper mixture. if there is too much antifreeze it won't allow proper heating.

No heat when car is moving

Your thermostat is stuck open and any amount of air movement over the radiator takes away all the available heat.

Make sure your radiator fan isnt stuck on as well.

If you sit at idle the car does make heat....ok not the fan then.

Put a piece of cardboard over the face of the radiator and drive and see if it fixes the problem. If it does...replace your thermostat! Oh and be sure to remove the cardboard before you do any long range driving!

Good luck and be safe!

When car has been running for a half hour or more cool air blows our instead of heat. i have a saturn vue 2002

Change the thermostat first. Check that the antifreeze is a good fresh 50/50 coolant mixture. Antifeeze goes bad after a year or so which could give you problems. Last possible cause would be a plugged or failing heater core that provides the heat. You can go to and register for full free online repair manual for your saturn
