Question about 1995 Ford Aerostar

1 Answer

1995 ford aerostar power door lock actuator

I cannot find info on the power door lock actuators in my van. I know I can fix the problem on my own as I have already replaced both the interior door handle and exterior on the driver side. While doing this I found that the power door lock button does nothing and the sliding door does not open at all (like its jammed shut). I found a wire not connected to anything in the driver door and am wondering if that would cause all the doors to not work with the power unlock?

If that wire has an eye conector the hold it to grond and if everithing works then atached to gron but if not eye conector then some times manufactures leave extra wires for future cars options,
you can also remove the door panel and see if the power is getting to the acuator if it is then actuator is not good but when you do it make sure to have check all the fuses prior to that

I need to find out what might be causing my 1994 GMC Safari Van passenger power door lock to not work. It is all hooked up and should have power. Any ideas?

If the lock actuator has power and ground when you lock and unlock it, the most likely cause is the lock actuator itself. The only way to know for sure is to pull the door panel off, disconnect the electrical connector from the lock actuator, and connect a test light to the connector. The test light should light up when you press the lock and unlock buttons. If it doesn't light up either way, or only one way, then there's an electrical problem upstream you need to diagnose. If it does light up both ways, then the problem is the lock actuator.

Drivers side door lock will not lock. Locks are power locks and button works. But door does not lock

the door lock actuator inside the door has gone bad.if the other doors lock and the driver's doesn't then the actuator has gotten too weak to move the lock/ latch.
