Question about 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

My 99 chey lumina will not go into gear. The gear shifter will move fine but it takes a while before the transmission moves into gear. I have found that it shifts into gear faster if i give it some gas. Any ideas on what my problem maybe.

Suspect low fluid level. check trans fluid in park with the engine running. If level is correct then most likely you have major trouble.

does the clutch push normally or is the linkage broken not disengaging clutch, and then does shifter move around or locked and wont move, loose linkage in shifter or gears are jammed inside transmission and something went, if shifter wont move at all then trans is jammed inside and needs repair.

My gear shifter won't move out of park on my 2006

This problem also happened to me. However, I found the part online that replaces the second pink lever. The new part is made of metal so the part will never break again. I made the emergency fix with the dremel, ordered the part, and a week later the part came. I am making the permanent fix today. Follow the link above to order the new part. It costs around 49.00 including tax and shipping. It will take you appx 2 hours to remove the shifter, change the part, and reinstall.

1994 chev lumina, trans problems

If there is a delay(like 2-3 secs) when you shift from neutral to drive...then down to reverse...most likely the transmission is screwed,or on its way out.
Is the Fluid level correct?,and is the fluid red or dark and smelly ?.

Dark and smelly IS NOT A GOOD SIGN.--means the fluid has been overheating ...
