Question about Mitsubishi Galant
Loud pinging sound = a metal part inside the motor has broke loose - most likely a valve spring has failed and the piston hits the open valve. The engine must be dismantled and the broken part replaced. You must do that ASAP the more you wait the bigger the damage gets and be prepared to fork out a lot of money - worst case scenario: you will have to completely rebuild it.
