Question about 2002 Mazda Millenia

1 Answer

I have a 2002 mazda millenia. It is pulling codes regarding shift sensors. At cruising speeds it feels as if you downshift suddenly or possible like it isn't getting fuel for a moment. We have replaced speed sensors, fuel filters, fuel pump and O2 sensors. Mazda did not solve the issue nor found any codes for the transmission. Could this be the knock sensor pulling these codes and casing the car to act in such a manner occasionally.

Change the speed sensor and your problem will be fixed. The speed sensor is located under the transmission. Loosen the engine mount bolt just enough to pull the sensor out.

Can't solve, but, had the same problem. Replaced everything the codes indicated. Drove a couple of weeks and the transmission went. Third gear is gone.

Almost $ 2000.00 to chase the codes, now the transmission is going to cost $ 2,700.00 to rebuild.

Take car to a trans. shop before the transmission burns up and the rebuild will be less!!!!

Dwight, sounds like you are having some trouble with the torque converter. Check the fuild level and maybe even change the fluid and filter. When it does shift does it shift normal or hard?

Trans down shifts at 60 while cruising

Thinking it's coming out of lockup not actually downshifting,
possibly brake pedal switch adjustment,TPS, or lockup solonid is
faulty. Notice how you can cruise at 60 and just barely touch
the brake pedal,it will come out of overdrive, you can feel it.
If you have a tach the lockup will only change the RPM about
500 ,if it was downshifting it would be more like 2000.

What was the codes exactly that Auto Zone gave you.??? it might just be a simple wire harness that may have gone loose since you did some work on the speed sensor.
