Question about 2002 Mazda Protege

2 Answers

I need to remove the stock radio/deck from my 2002 Protege LX 2.0. I have two u shaped wire tools, but there seems to be 5 holes on either side of the deck. How do I get the deck out? I was told the two u shaped tools would be sufficient. Thanks a lot.

There are two tabs of metal that keep the radio from coming out. take a small flat head screw driver and go between the radio and the casing around the radio and ull find the little tabs push on them and the radio will come out.

Remove radio ford

They make a inexpensive radio removal tool that consists of 2 "U" shaped prong like handles that insert into the 4 "square" holes on the face of the radio edge, 2 being on the left side and 2 on the right side near the edge. Gently insert the the 2 section tools into the 4 holes as sorts 2 "handles" and gently pull the radio out of dash area. The terminals have lock tabs that you need to depress to thus remove the speaker and power terminal connections. Auto Zone, Advance Auto, O' Reilly's and NAPA usually have the fairly cheep little tools, that look almost as though they were made from "coat hanger" wire rod.

How to remove a disk player from a 1996 mustang GT

If it is a stock radio you can purchase a tool from an auto parts store, it's basically 2 U shaped wires with balls shaped on the ends you, slide these into the holes on both sides of your radios face plate. Push out slightly on the wires while you are pulling and the radio should slide right out. Be patient as it might take you a few tries. The tools were only a few bucks. I tried using some wire coat hangers but they didn't work as well as the tools I purchased.

How do i remove radio in 1995 E320

The bezel around the radio, just pops off. It is held on with clips. Just be carefull not to break it at the thinner sections. After you get it off you can acess the screws to remove the radio. Just a note, some models there may be a couple of scews at the bottom of the bezel.

You will need a Ford radio removal tool. These can be purchased at Wal-mart and your local auto store for about $5. The pack comes with 2 and you will both. These are U shaped and once these are inserted into the holes it will release "locks" to remove radio. There are other options to get it out but this is the best for someone new to this. God Luck

Stock stereo removal

on each side of the radio there is a cover you need to remove those, and insert a FIRM wire through the holes that you see on each side. insert the wire so that is u shaped through top and bottom, there are clips on the side of the radio that need to be pressed inward. so you add pressure to the wire outward, and pull as you are pressing, this should release the clips. if you don't care for the radio, you can force pry it out cause those clips can be a pain.

You can make tool to take it out. Get a hanger, and make two U shaped tools out that wire hanger. The U should be as such so that its ends will fit on the holes. The two U shaped tools are for each side. You push them into the holes to free up the loocking mechanism all at the same time then you can pull out the radio. GOOD LUCK!!
