Have you changed the filter? Sounds like it is plugging up.

This seems to be a clogged filter in trans. Only to be serviced by a transmission repairman or local oil change shop . Beware of some discount trans. Shops , remember they are in the Business ......

Transmition does not ingage when cold after a few min its ok

The trans fluid cooler(s) are draining back into the pan when the truck is parked. Depending on the year of your truck and which engine you have, there may be an updated cooler line with an improved check valve but on the older diesels (2 gen) we remove them anyway. After you start the engine, shift the trans into neutral and let it build pressure before you put it in drive (or anything else). It won't build pressure in park and if you put it in gear before there is pressure, it will wear the clutch material.

07 grand prix gtp trans will slip intermittenly

you could be losing in line pressure or the pressure solenoid could be defective . you can take your vehicle to a transmission shop and with the transmission scan tool they should be able to tell you if your losing pressure or the solenoids has gone bad or something else

My 1990 Chrysler New Yorker 5th avenue will not shift up past second gear.

Probly no one ever changed the trans fluid, now you did and its to late,But get a bottle of Lucas trans slip.cost about 12$ at walmart, put the whole bottle in the trans,it is really thick, so heat the bottle on a register for a good while so that it will pour right in in this cold wheather.Let car run for 20 min. than try driveing it.if it wont move, let it rin another 20 min. if it moves drive it around untill it starts driveing better ,might take up to 3 days to get moved through trans real good.It worked for me on 6 cars now

I have a 1997 chevy 1500. The Trans (4l60e) is bad i think

Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, engine running in Park on level ground) and have the PCM scanned for trouble codes FIRST.
Secondly, put a line pressure gauge (or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan).
Slow, slipping or no reverse: “lo-reverse” clutches are worn out, fluid leak in the reverse apply circuit, or broken sunshell. It is possible to remedy a fluid problem by removing the checkball from its cage in the case in the rear of the trans may help (must remove valvebody), or adding a high-viscosity additive such as Lucas Transmission additive or other seal restorer product. May also have worn boost valve (can replace in the pan).
Soft shifting, gradual performance degradation: Poor line pressure rise due to leaking boost valve, clogged EPC filter screen, failing EPC solenoid, or worst case: leaky seals throughout. Transgo HD2-C kit fixes first two without removing trans. Seal restorer may fix last problem, but probably R&R. Also try a transmission flush with BG brand products (Firestone stocks it).
No movement in any gear: pump failure, or total loss of fluid. R&R, or refill pan and find the leak. If out of fluid, avoid running the engine until the trans is refilled to avoid pump damage. To check for pump failure, check fluid level with the engine off, then start the engine and recheck fluid level. If level does not go down when engine is running, the pump is broken.
1-2 or 2-3 shift is slow/soft above part throttle: Trans is on its way out. R&R
Good luck and start with checking your transmission fluid level. Thank you for using Fixya

Shifts hard only some times when cold or hot from 3rd to over drive the truck has 130,000 miles and is a 2000 chevy silverado 2500 6.0L

1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace or EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break. Start with the simple and check the transmission fluid level and condition.Secondly, put a line pressure gauge (or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure.
No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Our 1999 Chevy Truck looses power after the engine warms up. We have changed the knock sensors, o2 sensors, catalitic converters, and the fuel pump relay? What are we missing?

Have you had the s10 scanned for the DTC codes. Auto Zone scan free of charge and this should help figure out why your loosing power when the engine warms up. You could have a faulty MAP sensor or a weak fuel pump, dirty fuel filter.

Not knowing what has been done, here is a few things you can do and check.

You may be weak on fuel pressure, even a couple of lbs low on fuel pressure can cause low performance.
Double check cold start cranking fuel pressure. If under 63-62 lbs you have problems. Run the full fuel pressure test and post back pressures.
Here is the guide lines on testing.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.
Post back fuel pressure readings.

The 75-85 is only a check on the capable full pressure of fuel pump.
If you can not find the rubber return line check full pressure by plugging return line or just or the true full pressure can be taken direct at the end fuel filter. What are the pressure readings that you have done.
What are your cold start pressure readings?

You need 3 things.
Compression
Good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Good gasoline and proper fuel pressure. 63-64 lbs.
If you have all 3 then move on to injector pulse to all injectors.
I think each injector is on a separate driver on that one.
Check for pulse to all of them.

The next thing you can look at is the Cap and Rotor, inspect for any damages and corrosion which is common to accumulate in the distributor due the a clogged vent screen at the bottom of the distributor. That is where is ICM is located also and my be on it's way out and needs to be replace.

Best thing to do is check for any DTC codes at Auto Zone and that should help determine what is causing your loose or power. A bad fuel pump and dirty fuel filter will not trip any DTC codes.

Start with the simple and check all the fuses, the wire leads to the MAP sensor, it's located on the passenger side on the intake manifold by the throttle body. Check then check the distributor Cap and Rotor and replace, check the fuel pressure reading, and almost forgot to check the MAF sensor.

Try this in the mean time, turn you ignition to the run position "engine not running" and pull the fuse to your ECM for 1 min and place back in. Turn your ignition off for 5 sec and turn on again for 10 sec and then start the engine. It may stall out, let it. just start it again and let idle for 2 min and go for a test drive. This will reset your ECM to default and relearn all the sensors on the engine and transmission. Any DTC codes will have been erased and any DTC codes will be new to the issues your engine is having. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your S10 running 100% again soon.
