Question about 1997 GMC Sierra

My fuel pump went out again in my truck. I had it done the first time and was told it was quite the chore. This time I don't have the 600$ to have it done again so I'm going to try it myself. I need a brief walkthrough on the procedure!

you don`t say how you know it has fuel. did you check the fuel pressure with a gage and did you check the fuel volume as well. this sounds like a fuel pump problem.

check again the fuel pump. check the resistance if too low. or unplug the pump and put a fuse again, if the fuse will not blow, then the pump went bad again.

2000 Ford Taurus. Would fill up with gas when close to empty or light come on. Then a couple weeks ago,gas gauge was on 1/4 tank then went a little lower and engine started bucking. Then light came on. ...

change the fuel filter for one, this is telling you that your pick up in the tank is getting clogged, I would drop my tank, and drain it, flush it, and check the pump at that time

3 days ago gas hand starting jumping form full to empty after I filled up. today I turn the corner truck shuts off. wont start. Thought it was out of gas Put gas in. Still would not turn over. Called tow...

From your description of the problem, I would suggest you check and make sure the ground to your fuel tank and fuel assembly is clean and tight, and no wires are broken. It sounds like you have a bad (loose) ground, which would cause both the fuel gauge to jump around, and the fuel pump to quit unexpectedly, like on a hard corner. Dropping the truck could jiggle the loose connection so that it worked, again. Before spending the $600, make sure your ground is good. If the bad ground is inside the unit, then you will have to get it replaced, but make sure it's not just a loose wire, first.

2001 Blazer: what are symtoms of a bad fuel pump?...

My fuel pump just went bad in my 2001 Blazer. The mechanic told me that the first symptom, which my Balzer had but I didn't know it was a symptom, was the gas gauge jumping around especially when it was low on gas. Another symptom is a surging feeling. The pump itself is about $600 plus labor. They have to drop the fule tank to replace it.
