SOURCE: Fuel filter location for 1983 Cressida

Hello George. Just saw this post and thought I'd answer even though you probably already solved it. I had an 83 with manual tranny--loved that car. I replace the filter twice. It is right under the driver's side floorboard tucked up tight next to the outer frame rail as it inclines up toward the firewall. Hard to work on. David

Testimonial: "yeah it was helpful, but I still need to know the wiring diagram because when they stole my stereo they cut my plug ends off."

Toyota's automatic overdrive is always electronically switchable; it could be the OD solenoid (in the transmission).

SOURCE: celica overdrive

Have you checked to see if it is an electronic problem? Possibly a short in the wire connecting the button?

SOURCE: i have a 1991 ford

these are two separate issues, the 1st the tach is most likely the tach is defective, this is fairly common, the 2nd problem requires that u have the transmission control module tested for fault codes, anytime the OD light flashes it means the transmission control module has detected a problem in the transmission operation, this can be a shift error or More commonly excessive slipping has been detected, u may not even fell this but never the less the difference between the input and out shaft speed sensors of the transmission showed a speed difference that triggered the OD light and a fault code, not saying this is the problem but based on my experience of 35 years at a Ford dealer it is the most common fault, if that is the problem then the transmission will require a rebuild. THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS EARLY E4OD, LATER VERSIONS HAS BBEN GREATLY IMPROVED.

O?D light flashing on 1998 ford explorer saying it is off. when you try to drive it the overdrive goes in and out.

the overdrive light flashing on a A4Od transmission is a fault signal for the transmission , just like a ck engine light but for the transmission only , get a code read to find the fault stored in the ecm and then you'll know what exactly it is
its very common for engine swaps to have a few intermittent sensor failures on restart due to the connectors all getting maybe not all the care and protection they deserve in the swap (plastic baggies) and having a bit of dirt and corrosion in them now (spray contact cleaner)

with the od in/out/in/out an educated guess is that the engine throttle position sensor is not being read now , but a code reader will tell all

My 2000 Dodge Durango has no overdrive what do I do

Hi EVE , I would suggest you take it to a reputable ASE Certified repair shop ! Do you know what transmission you have there are three different ones for your vehicle along with three different engine possibility's ! It could be the switch or a solenoid in side the transmission or a wiring problem or even a control module problem !

DESCRIPTION The overdrive OFF (control) switch is located in the shift lever arm.
OPERATION The switch is a momentary contact device that signals the PCM to toggle current status of the overdrive function. At key-on, overdrive operation is allowed. Pressing the switch once causes the overdrive OFF mode to be entered and the overdrive OFF switch lamp to be illuminated. Pressing the switch a second time causes normal overdrive operation to be restored and the overdrive lamp to be turned off. The overdrive OFF mode defaults to ON after the ignition switch is cycled OFF and ON. The normal position for the control switch is the ON position. The switch must be in this position to energize the solenoid and allow a 3-4 upshift. The control switch indicator light illuminates only when the overdrive switch is turned to the OFF position, or when illuminated by the transmission control module.

The overdrive off switch, valve body solenoid, case connectors and related wiring can all be tested with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt/ohmmeter. Check continuity of each component when diagnosis indicates this is necessary. Refer to Group 8W, Wiring Diagrams, for component locations and circuit information.
Switch and solenoid continuity should be checked whenever the transmission fails to shift into fourth gear range.

We do not have wiring diagrams because they are part of a copyrighted repair manual, you can however buy a used Ford booklet that contains them here. for a great price.

1jzte from zz30 toyota soarer into mx83 cressida require pin out diagram to suit

ok I'll say what I know..

1.) the only way to get a diagram for the cressida is from the manufacturer or a service center.. I searched high and low for it and couldnt find one so its not available on line (TO MY KNOWLEDGE). The diagram is in the service manual so ordering one of that will get you what you need.

2.) service centers dont like to share

3.) use the cressida harness and a cressida brain and transmission. that way you wont have the problem your having now!!! that what i do on all conversations to avoid such ..all u need is the wiring on the old harness to power the brain.. nothing else needs to be integrated into that circuit.
