You might have just gotten your lines crossed backwards when you do a steering pump with line change out the fluid doesnt stay with the steering gear box
start vehicle after filling the pwsp.
turn wheels both directions for at least a minute with pwsp. cap off watch the fluid if lowers then its going to gear box where its required to stay the wineing is something the box does when its brand new it has to broken in like shoes propper fluid is a plus

Why is it hard to turn the steering wheel?

Check the level of your power steering fluid and have your pump checked. You are probably just low o fluid.

How to change powerstering pump chevy uplander

I just finished replacing mine.

It is much easier if you do these steps:

1. Remove the serpentine belt.
2. Remove the nuts holding the main fuse box over the battery.
3. Remove the reinforcing bar over the battery.
4. Remove the battery.
5. Remove the windsheild washer tank.
6. Now you have access to remove the pump pulley. Without removing the stuff, it may be possible, but it will be extremely difficult.
7. Remove the pump pulley.
8. Loosen the high pressure hose fitting.
9. Remove the return line clamp.
10. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
11. Remove the high pressure hose fitting.
12. Remove the power steering pump while sliding off the low pressure hose.
13. Remove the clips holding the reservoir on the pump.
14. Remove the reservoir.
15. Install new o-ring on the reservoir.
16. Install reservoir on new pump.
17. Install clips to hold reservoir on pump.
18. Install new o-ring on high pressure fitting.
19. Place new pump in position while sliding on low pressure hose.
20. Loosely attache high pressure fitting.
21. Tighten pump to mounts.
22. Tighten high pressure fitting.
23. Install clamp on low pressure hose.
24. Install power steering pulley.
25. Install washer reservoir.
26. Install battery.
27. Install reinforcing cross member.
28. Install fuse panel.
29. Install serpentine belt.
30. Bleed the power steering system.

I have a 1991 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. Recntly, I made a tight right turn. I heard a sound and a pressure release. From this, it has been hard to steer. What is needed to fix this issue? Parts, Remedies.

I think your power steering pressure hose burst or is leaking.

Could be leaking some other place in the power steering, but you heard a pressure release it must have been the high pressure line. Obviously, there is a leak since its hard to steer. You should check your power steering lines to see where your leak is.

The powersteering was working fine when i parked but when i started the car and began to back up i had no powersteering. what would cause this?

Check the level of power steering fluid in the resovoir.
If low refill and your steering should come back.
Check for leaks by looking under the car and have someone turn wheel from one extreme to the other. Alot of times the fluid only leaks under high pressure when the wheel is turned

AFTER MAKING A U TURN ALL OF MY POWER STEERING FLUID FLOWED OUT . I REFILLED IT 2 BLOCKS FROM HOME IT ALL RAN OUT BY THE TIME I GOT HOME THE LEAK IS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. COULD IT BE A HOSE.

You has a leak on the high or low pressure return hose.

The high pressure line is machine press on and it heavy duty. (it's between power steering pump and rack)

The low pressure line is thinner.
(It's return from the rack to the pump)

Check for leaks on both lines.

Order the correct section from part store.

Check your Power Steering Fluid. I would suspect its low, if so, you have a leak and the most common thing to leak is the High Pressure Hose. Have that looked at ASAP, you dont want to destroy the PS Pump.

Replace power steering pump and lines 1992 cadillac seville sts

you need to have a pulley puller to get the pulley off if you don't have one most auto zone part stores have a loan a tool program and they can help you with that on most powersteering pumps the high pressure line will be a fitting or bolt on and the return line is usually just a squeeze clamp hope this helps good luck

Power steering pump still leaks after putting new one in.

the bubbles are just air in the system, it will eventualy go away. are you sure the leak is from the pump or is it just comming out the cap because of the air. also did you chk. the pressure line? that maybe where your leak is. unless you got a crack in the resavor, its most likely the pressure line. there is a pressure line and a return line.

if that is the case the fitting is probably cracked and unless you replace that fitting it will continue to leak.
