Hello: You can check fuel pressure, there is a test point, but that will not tell you about the volume, The only sure way to check the filter is to remove it, drain the it in a container and check the content. The test point for taking fuel pressure is on the fuel line going to the injectors.

How to troubleshoot a no fuel problem, no fuel at fuel rail in a 2000 olds sillhouette.

First check there is battery voltage to the pump and the pump starts when the ignition is switched on , if not check fuse and relay, check wiring from relay to pump. If ok and the pump is working , check for fuel blockage from the tank inlet to the pump , some have a sock type filter in the tank pick up tube, if all ok remove the fuel filter , switch on and fuel should flow at the filter, fit a new filter, if still no fuel at the rail fit a fuel pressure gauge an check for low pressure , if ok, the fuel pressure regulator may be stuck causing a air lock replace it.

Hello I have 2005 Toyota Hiace, diesel, auto with the 2KD-FTV engine. had problem with the vehicle this morning, had not change the fuel filter in about 5 months, it was dirty. I replace the filter, t

The pump is probably ok from the tank but the injector pump may have been damaged if the filter failed and allowed particulate to enter the pump also the injectors themselves maybe clogged best way to check the pump is with an oscilloscope (lab scope) check the amperage waveform with the lab scope and calculate the rpm , also check the fuel pressure from the pump with an appropriate fuel gauge

Ran out of gas refilled then it ran sluggish now it wont start its 2001 mercedes s430

Could be a a fuel pump fuse, blocked fuel intake filter, blocked in-line filter or failed pump. 1) When the fuel goes very low the dregs and dirt in the bottom of the tan are likely to sucked into the fuel pipe. The end of the fuel pickup pipe within the tank has a filter sock on the end of it to prevent very large particles from entering the fuel line. However this can become overwhelmed with dirt that it may be become clogged. It may mean that the tank needs to be removed to clean/replace this sock. 2) Fuel pumps are cooled by the passage of fuel through them. If the car runs dry but one tries to repeatedly to start the car the fuel pumps can over heat and die. 3) the in-line fuel filter has become blocked. Check your fuses check the in-line fuel filter. The filter is located next to the fuel pump and consists of a metal canister with no electrical connections; I make a point of this since the pump and filter look similar. Next look at the pumps. Simply put the switch to position 2 in the ignition and listen to and feel the pumps for tell-tale whirring to show that they are OK. No whirring indicates failure. Lastly, check the fuel filter sock in the tank My guess is that you will not need to check the sock in the tank as you will trap the failure elsewhere first.

A 460 engine that acts like its not getting enough fuel. Will start but runs as if only on half the cylinders missing badly or such.

Check your running fuel pump pressure. If (as I suspect) it's too low, first try changing your fuel filter. After changing the filter, recheck the running fuel pump pressure. If still low, check you fuel pump pressure regulator. If OK, you may need a new fuel pump.

Also probably would be a good idea to replace you air filter.

Good luck!

Car died in front of house, would crank, but not start...fuel pump has been buzzing for a while so i assumed it went out, replaced pump & filter, sadly cant get it to start. checked all fuses, relays...

No pressure at fuel rail either mean a clog in the fuel lines or filter...or a failed or incorrectly installed pump. If you have voltage at the pump when you are cranking the engine over recheck pump and fuel filter. also try applying shop are to the fuel lines when disconnecting at pump and fuel rail to clear any clogs.

Check the fuel pressure at idle with a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail.

Could be clogged fuel filter or fuel pump is weak.

If the car stalling then the owner of the car should check on the fuel pump assembly. prepare the tools and equipment in servicing the fuel pump, the fuel lines and the fuel filters. In the fuel pump you have to locate the fuel pump, disconnect fuel lines from the fuel pump, remove fuel pump from the engine,dis-assemble fuel pump, check the diaphram for defect , replace defective parts, assemble and install the fuel pump.
In checking the fuel lines : prepare the tools or equipment in servicing the fuel lines .So that the fuel will flow freely and no abstraction within the fuel lines.locate the the fuel lines ,visual inspection on dual line for leakage, disconnect lines at fuel pump and fuel tank .use compress air to remove sediment on fuel lines,re-install fuel lines to the unit.
the fuel filters :prepare the equipment or tools in checking the fuel filters that is going to be used.So that when fuel filters is removed ,no fuel will spill on the vehicle and no parts are lost or broken.Locate fuel filter, disconnect lines at fuel filter ,observe safety practices ,If the fuel filter is dirty then you have to clean it but if it is worn out and not anymore to be used then install new fuel filter.
