First thing you have to make sure that the cooling fan are working, not the a/c fan. Make sure all the hoses are the same temp. If not the thermostat most likely it my be the water pump.

this problem is affecting loads of cars with many people spending lots of money with no cure?there must be a reason anda cure and itneeds looking into thoroughly, this could be a good project for someone to study and solve as they would be saving many rover and m.g. owners hundreds of pounds each time...im sure a manual could be written about the cure when it is found and sold in large quantitys, still saving owners precious time and money..and rewarding the author for his trouble...it would probably be possible to open a website dedicated to this very fault and get plenty of hits as i feel nearly every rover or mg may suffer, and probably will sufer this problem at some time in its life.im sure there are millions of m.gs and rovers in the world giving a possibility of making thousands, maybe millions from publishing the cure...i might even dothis myself?thanks for your time and advice too, cheers.

2004 mg zr had to disconnect battery also replace the key fob case. When i reconnected the battery the alarm went off. Fob won't turn it off Can i use the key only to turn alarm and immobiliser off

Try disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight. Unlock the car, insert the ignition key and switch on - then reconnect the battery.

That sometimes works. If it doesn't you will need some experienced advice and specialist help. Rover/MG usually needed to be opened by whatever locked the car to avoid the alarm sounding. If the key was used to lock it, then using the key to unlock should be ok though I seem to remember the alarm will sound after a short time if the key isn't put into the ignition and switched on fairly quickly.

How do i bleed coolant system on mg zr 2003

after filling cooling system there is a bleed screw on the coolant pipe that runs round the end of the cylinder head.rh has you look under bonnet 8mm head, loosen that or remove it may be blocked! the heater can give problems if you have completely drained the system or have had a major leak it may be airlocked! make sure the heater is set to hot, run engine until coolant flows from bleed screw, close bleed screw, remove coolant cap carefully, and top up.leave to stand for 20 mins or so. re top up run engine @2500 revs if the heater is cold and you have no bleed screw on the heater hose. there is a valve that fails in the heater hose bypassing the heater matrix.that may need replacing if the heater is cold, hope this helps.

Why won't my mg zr start?

you may have sucked up dirt from the fuel tank when it ran it of gas. replace the fuel filter to see if this works. also the fuel pump may have a plugged pickup filter on the pump itself or the pump may have just died, not supplying the proper pressure in the system.

Mg zr common faults

Bad cabling.
You need to check earth for the motor.
If you are getting bad earth then it will overload the fuse.

Zs mg rover fan heater risistor not working just not getting no electric feed to it and the fuse is ok.

A very common fault this one, that is easily fixed. On older cars the heater fan speeds one and two often fail, due to the resistors burning out. This applies to most of the MG Rover cars of the 90's and 2000's so Rover 200, 25, 45, 400, MG ZR, ZS, MGF and MGTF.
Buy three bigger resistors of value 0.68 ohm and wattage 10 watts, from eBay or an electronics store.
Most of the video here is an MG ZR, apart from the MG TF at the start but it is similar for all models. The MG TF took marginally longer due to the slightly more hidden location of the resistor pack. You need to remove a short vent pipe as well as the glovebox cover on that car.

Overheats even after thermostst, water pump replacede. Also took radiator off and shot water thru it with garden hose seemed fine. Its a 1997 BMW 528I> Have no clue other that hoses or lcog somewhere...

It is more than likely an airlock in the system. BMW are horrible for trying to remove these. Start the engine, remove the bleed nipple next to the rad cap and try using your hand on the hoses to "pump" the fluid through the system. Stop the engine refill the coolant up to the top. and keep repeating until all the air has escaped.
Best of luck.
