I have 1998 Nissan altima and I made a mistake and ran it without oil and I ended up putting too much oil. My mechanic drained the oil and put the right amount in but it has a slow takeoff

Wierd as it sounds, but it has gone into fail safe mode. Disconnect the negative battery cable for 1 minute. The ecm will go back to normal. Wow. You must have put alot of oil in it. No worries. It's all good.

Management light came on mechanic said to put oil in put some in car was fine then week later wont start mechanic said oil over fill

I would never go back to that mechanic. If the light comes on, go to autozone or other store and have the code read(FREE) and they will often times give very helpful advice. Most cars have oil lights which would light up if you did not have enough oil and/or were losing oil pressure.

My warning light is on (oil) when I take my foot off the gas. I already had my mechanic replace the sending unit. The mechanic says it might be the bearings. I don't want to pay for guess work and that is...

Could be bearings, could also be partially clogged oil pickup unit , FILTER or bad oil pump. I would change oil filter if you haven't already done so and remove oil pan for inspection of pickup screen, testing of the oil pump and you can even check the condition of your bearings

Had intake gaskets changed and oil changed today. i been putting 10 40 the mechanic put 5 30 oil would this cause low oil pressure

It would cause it to be a little lower. What is the year make and model? What does it run for oil pressure?

My gauge ligth is on and my oil and engine ligth on? why thats happening maybe my mechanic put the wrong oil???

The "wrong oil" wouldn't do that - not immediately, anyway. More probable is they may have forgotten to fill the engine with oil when they changed it last. Have you checked the dipstick to see if the oil level is correct? If you do not see oil on the dipstick, do NOT run the engine! Have it towed to a different mechanic, and have it inspected to see if there is any permanent engine damage. You may have cause for a claim against your mechanic.

Mechanic mistakenly put gear oil in tank, the pump is knocking

What the heck did he think he was putting in the tank? Gear oil is very thick and heavy, so the fuel pump may have a problem as it is meant to pump gas, which is not thick and heavy like gear oil. There was probably some gear oil in the tank while the pump was operating, and it pumped some gear oil for a short time, which damaged it. Insist that the 'mechanic' replace the fuel pump at no cost to you ,and find a new mechanic for future repairs. Good luck.

Tappets making a constant noise

i would suggest asking your mechanic which viscosity(thickness) oil he put back in and check it against the manufacturers recommendation as if it isto thin then it will make your tappets unusally noisey if he has put in the correct oil then i would say that they were quiet because of the old gungy oil and they either need adjusting or if they are hydraulic then the lifters need replacing
