Question about 1995 Chevrolet S-10 CA Edition

What other replacement or repair would be needed after changing the spark plugs & wires in a 1995 Chevy S-10 4.3 L. Vortec engine, that dropped the (1)HC from 2.99 down to (1.78) & the (2)CO down from 46.85 to (25.94), to be able to pass that emissions test? The NOx actually rose from (3)1.75 to (2.49). The Applicable Standards are in the above order at 1.60, 20.00 & 3.00. As for the CO2, it was at 521.70; and if there's a standard for it, I haven't seen it yet. I've got the air & fuel line filters to replace next. Is there anything else that any of You know of that I should try so I can pass, Other than maybe...the O2 sensor? Don't want to go with the code reading solution?, because of the expense of time & money that process of elimination will require. Thank You guys for your time, knowledge &/or advice! Your way rich--as far as CO
If you have that fuel system, with the pressure regulator and plastic spyders with poppet valves,under the intake manifold,I bet it is leaking.

    Took it to an ASE Auto Tech, (Sam's Auto) and their solution was a fuel injector - $300, hose kit - 118.18, manifold gasket set - 21.64 and shop supplies @ 32.68 2.7 hours labor for a total of $757.14. Wasn't the O2 sensor or CAT which was good after all. The guy said the CC would've been next, if I didn't catch it this time. Guaranteed to Pass anywayyyyy, or they'll repair or replace whatever's needed. So, manifold gaskets was part of it...Thanx for your input pczapp <> from New AKA WannaBeMechani-Carl

Depending on the year, the only option you have is to change the spark plugs and then consider changing cap and rotor and plug wires. Modern computer controlled cars have very few adjustments.

Its possible the spark plug is damaged. Change the plug.

I have a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 with a 4800 vortec engine. it starts and idels fine but when ever i give it gas, the engine starts to sputter and dies. ive already changed the fuel filter and spark plug...


This sounds llike weak feul pressure, the fuelpump may need replacing, the first thing to do is have the fuel pressure tested and if the pressure is low then have the pump replaced. the pump is located inside the fuel tank and the tank will need to be dropped to replace the pump, good luck ,

1992 chevy blazer 4.3 vortec engine 2w dr have change the fuel pump fuel filter spark plugs rotor in the distributing cap ignition coil.and still doesnt want to start only cranks but doesnt stay on.


Check the wireing to the pump they had problems with it it tended to over heat and corroad there is a service bulliton on the prroblem #25215705and a kit with new wires and connector to resist over heating Icould give you the kit # but i got a DELPHI pump and the connector dosn;t fit a chevy pump

Where is the number one spark plug wire go on the distributor cap of a 1995 chevy s-10 vortec v-6 engine


Starting at the point closest to the front of the vehicle for no 1 position on the distributor connect in clockwise direction 1-6-5-4-3-2.
If you are not sure get no 1 piston at TDC. Remove spark plug on drivers side front of the engine. Insert a wooden or plastic dowel into the plug hole and turn the engine with a wrench until the dowel reaches its topmost point. Be careful not to get the dowel fouled inside the cylinder.
Now remove the distributor cap. The rotor should be pointing towards you. This is no 1 position on the distributor. If the rotor is pointing away from you then it is at no 4 position.

1994 s-10 blazer 4.3 vortec wiring harness


The color codes will be different so when you take the harness off the 95 make sure that you label ALL the connectors to make it easier to install it on your Blazer. You may also have to change some sensors or switches up to 95 so that the harness will fit. Label all the empty connectors with their location in the 95 because they will be for options that may or may not be on your Blazer. If you have to access a wire diagram to complete the job then use the 95. DON'T let someone else take the 95 harness out for you andtake a rough diagram of your truck with the plug-ins marked for location and # of pins for wires. Basically it should fit but attention to detail is a must.
Also check out faxonautoliterature. They list GM service manuals but also GM books for engine interchanges that may prove to be very helpful. Hope this helps.

Souds like ignition module has failed. Check for 12 volts to mod and replace mod if voltage is good.

4.3 L vortec firing orcer and wiring diagram


you need the firing order?? it is 1, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 clockwise. Number one on cap is forward position, or 6 o'clock position, just left of the hold down bolt.
