Question about 1994 Honda Accord

Just installed a new camshaft on a 1994 accord 2.2L non- vtec and it will not turn. The crankshaft is turning but the but the cam will not move. Please help me

THATS NO GOOD AT ALL , IF YOU HAVE TURND THE ENGINE WHIT THE STARTER YOU ARE VERY UNLUCKY , SHOULD ALLWAYS TURN AT LEAST 2 FULL TURN BY HAND FOR CHECKING BELT IS OK MOUNTED ,

Cam timing for fiat siena 1.2 2001


There are no timing marks on this engine - the engine has to be "locked" using special engine locking / setting kit which you wil have to obtain to do the job.

I will give you the instructions to do the job for when you have the locking kit to do the job.. as follows:

Removal
  1. Raise and support front of vehicle.
  2. Remove:
      • RH front wheel.
      • RH inner wing panel.
      • Air filter assembly.
  3. Support engine.
  4. Remove:
      • RH engine mounting and bracket.
      • Timing belt upper cover,
      • AC receiver/drier (if fitted). DO NOT disconnect hoses.
      • Timing belt lower cover.
      • Auxiliary drive belt.
      • Support bracket between gearbox and cylinder block (Palio).
  5. Palio: Remove bell housing cover plate. Fit flywheel locking tool. Tool No.1.867.029.000. or equivalent commercially available.
  6. Remove:
      • Crankshaft pulley bolts
      • Crankshaft pulley
      • Spark plug leads.
      • Ignition coil and bracket.
      • Spark plugs.
  7. Fit dial gauge and adapter to No.1 cylinder. Tool No.1.860.895.000.
  8. Turn crankshaft to TDC on No.1 cylinder. Set dial gauge to zero.
  9. Ensure notch in rear of camshaft aligned as shown.
  10. Install camshaft aligning tool. Tool No.1.870.823.000

  11. NOTE: If camshaft aligning tool cannot be fitted: Turn crankshaft one turn clockwise.

Installation
  1. Ensure No.1 cylinder at TDC by turning crankshaft slightly clockwise and anti-clockwise. Use dial gauge .
  2. Ensure camshaft aligning tool fitted correctly
  3. Hold camshaft sprocket. Use tool No.1.860.831.000/001
  4. Slacken camshaft sprocket bolt
  5. Fit timing belt in following order:
      • Crankshaft sprocket.
      • Water pump sprocket.
      • Camshaft sprocket.
      • Tensioner pulley.
    NOTE: Observe direction of rotation marks on belt.
  6. Fit tensioning tool locating pegs to tensioner pulley holes -Tool No.1.860.745.100/300. Ensure tensioning tool arm is horizontal.
  7. Set weight at 70 mm mark on scale bar.
  8. Hold camshaft sprocket
  9. Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt - Tightening torque: 70 Nm.
  10. Remove aligning tool
  11. Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise.
  12. Ensure No.1 cylinder at TDC by turning crankshaft slightly clockwise and anti-clockwise. Use dial gauge
  13. Ensure camshaft aligning tool can be fitted - If not: Repeat installation procedure.
  14. Tighten tensioner nut to 28 Nm
  15. Remove:
      • Tensioning tool
      • Camshaft aligning tool
      • Dial gauge
  16. Install components in reverse order of removal.
  17. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolts - Tightening torque: 20 Nm + 90°.

How to replace cam shaft sensor


Assuming you have the 2.3 L 4 cylinder engine, the CYP sensor [Honda does not call it a camshaft sensor] is located in the distributor. It also has 2 crankshaft sensors, located down at the front of the crankshaft. You need to remove the timing belt covers to access those.
FYI, P1259 is a VTEC system [variable valve timing] malfunction code. First step would be to change the engine oil and filter. Dirty oil can cause the VTEC solenoid to stick.

Removal & Installation2.2L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE The timing chain has 2 matching colored links and 1 uniquely colored link.
    Negative battery cable, PCV hose, Fuel line bracket, Ignition coil and module assembly Ground strap from camshaft cover, Camshaft cover, Front fender liner, Accessory drive belt Crankshaft balancer pulley, Accessory drive belt tensioner, Front cover-to-water pump bolt Remaining front cover bolts, Front cover
  5. Rotate the engine until the crankshaft sprocket mark aligns with the matching colored link (2) at the 5 o-clock position.
  6. Confirm that the INT diamond on the intake camshaft sprocket is aligned with the uniquely colored link at (1) the 2 o-clock position.
  7. Confirm that the EXH triangle on the exhaust camshaft sprocket is aligned with the matching colored link (3).
  8. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE Use a 24 mm wrench to hold the camshafts to prevent them from turning.
    Timing chain tensioner, Fixed timing chain guide access plug, Fixed timing chain guide Upper timing chain guide, Exhaust camshaft sprocket, Timing chain tensioner guide Intake camshaft sprocket, Timing chain through the top of the cylinder head Crankshaft sprocket

To install:
  1. Install the crankshaft sprocket with the timing mark in the 5 o-clock position.
  2. Assemble the intake camshaft sprocket to the timing chain with the timing mark lined up with the uniquely colored link (1). Hand tighten a new intake camshaft sprocket bolt.
  3. Lower the timing chain through the opening in the cylinder head.
  4. Route the timing chain around the crankshaft sprocket and line up the first marching colored link (2) with the timing mark on the crankshaft sprocket.
  5. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket with a new bolt loosely onto the exhaust camshaft.
  6. Align the timing mark on the sprocket with the last matching colored (3).
  7. If necessary, align the camshaft as follows:
    1. Using a 24 mm wrench, first turn the intake camshaft until the alignment feature on the back of the camshaft sprocket seats in the notch in the front of the intake camshaft.
    2. Turn the crankshaft 45 degrees in either direction.
    3. Turn the intake camshaft to the appropriate location.
    4. Turn the crankshaft back to top dead center (TDC).
  8. When the sprocket seats in on the camshaft, tighten the sprocket bolt hand tight.
  9. Verify all of the colored links and the appropriate timing marks are still aligned.
  10. Install the fixed timing chain guide. Tighten the bolts to 133 inch lbs. (15 Nm).
  11. Install the upper timing chain guide. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  12. Using a 24 mm wrench to hold the camshafts, tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm) plus 30 degrees.
  13. Measure the timing chain tensioner from end to end. A new tensioner should be supplied in the fully compressed non-active state. A tensioner in the compressed state will measure 2.83 inches (72 mm) front end to end. A tensioner in the active state will measure 3.35 inches (85 mm) from end to end.
  14. If the timing chain tensioner is not in the compressed state, perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the piston assembly from the body of the timing chain tensioner by pulling it out.
    2. Install the bottom half of the Tensioner tool J-45027-2 into a vise.
    3. Install the notch end of the piston assembly into the bottom half of the tensioner tool.
    4. Using the top half of the Tensioner tool J-45027-1, turn the ratchet cylinder into the piston.
    5. Install the compressed piston assembly back into the timing chain tensioner body until it stops at the bottom of the bore. Do not compress the piston assembly against the bottom of the bore.

  15. Install the timing chain tensioner assembly. Tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (75 Nm).
  16. Release the timing chain tensioner by compressing it approximately 0.08 inches (2mm). Feed a rubber-tipped tool down through the cam drive chest to reset on the cam chain. Give the tool a sharp jolt diagonally downwards to release the tensioner.
  17. Install the timing chain oiling nozzle.
  18. Install the timing chain guide bolt access hold plug with silicone sealant on the threads. Tighten the plug to 59 ft. lbs. (90 Nm).
  19. Install or connect the following:

    Camshaft cover. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Front cover with new gasket. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). Accessory drive belt tensioner. Tighten the bolts to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm). Crankshaft balancer pulley using a new bolt. Tighten the bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm) plus 75 degrees. Accessory drive belt, Front fender liner, Ground strap to camshaft cover Ignition coil and module assembly, Fuel line bracket, Air intake assembly, Negative battery cable
  20. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  21. Refill the engine with oil to the correct level.
  22. Start the engine and check for leaks.

How do i replace timing chain on mazda b2600 truck?


Bring the engine up to top dead center on number one cylinder. You can do this by taking out the plug and put something into the hole like a wad of paper. turn the engine by hand untill the wad pops out, then the cylinder is on the firing stroke. turn it by hand until the piston is at the top. The key on the crankshaft should be at the top of the crankshaft. Take off the timing case, remove the chain, be careful not to move the canshaft. You should be able to see the timing marks on the camshaft and the crankshaft, they should be lined up. if it is a twin cam, make sure that non of them move. Put on the new chain and re-assemble.

How do you set the timming on a 2.3 when your putting the new timming belt on


The IGNITION timing on your Ranger is computer-controlled and is not adjustable.


Should the camshaft drive belt/timing belt jump timing by a tooth or two, the engine could still run; but very poorly. To visually check for correct timing of the crankshaft, auxiliary shaft, and the camshaft follow this procedure:
There is an access plug provided in the cam drive belt cover so that the camshaft timing cam be checked without moving the drive belt cover.
  1. Remove the access plug.
  2. Turn the crankshaft until the timing marks on the crankshaft indicate TDC.
  3. Make sure that the timing mark on the camshaft drive sprocket is aligned with the pointer on the inner belt cover.

Never turn the crankshaft of any of the overhead cam engines in the opposite direction of normal rotation. Backward rotation of the crankshaft may cause the timing belt to slip and alter the timing.

  1. Rotate the engine so that No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke. Check that the timing marks are aligned on the camshaft and crankshaft pulleys. An access plug is provided in the cam belt cover so that the camshaft timing can be checked without removal of the cover or any other parts. Set the crankshaft to TDC by aligning the timing mark on the crank pulley with the TDC mark on the belt cover. Look through the access hole in the belt cover to make sure that the timing mark on the cam drive sprocket is lined up with the pointer on the inner belt cover.

Always turn the engine in the normal direction of rotation. Backward rotation may cause the timing belt to jump time, due to the arrangement of the belt tensioner.
  1. Drain cooling system. Remove the upper radiator hose as necessary. Remove the fan blade and water pump pulley bolts.

1990-95 4-Cylinder Accord and 1992-95 Prelude
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Turn the engine to align the timing marks and set cylinder No. 1 to TDC on the compression stroke. Once in this position, the engine must NOT be turned or disturbed. On DOHC Preludes without VTEC, hold each of the camshafts in the TDC position by inserting 5mm diameter punches into the alignment holes just behind each cam pulley.
  3. Remove the splash shield from below the engine.
  4. Drain the engine coolant. Use a clean container; cap or cover the container and wipe up spillage.
  5. Unplug the electrical connector at the cruise control actuator, then remove the actuator. Don't disconnect the cable; simply move the actuator out of the work area.
  6. Remove the belt from the power steering pump. Remove the mounting bolts for the pump. Without disconnecting the hoses, move the pump out of the way.
  7. Unplug the alternator wiring and connectors; remove the engine wiring harness from the valve cover.
  8. Loosen the adjusting and mounting bolts for the alternator and/or compressor. Remove the drive belt(s).
  9. Remove the valve cover.
  10. Remove the side engine mount support bracket, if equipped.
  11. Remove the upper timing belt cover.
  12. Support the engine with a floor jack on the oil pan (use a cushion between the jack and pan). Tension the jack so that it is just supporting the engine but not lifting it.
  13. Remove the side engine mount.
  14. Remove the dipstick and dipstick tube.
  15. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and remove the crankshaft pulley.
This bolt is one of the tightest on the entire car. The pulley must be held in place while the bolt is loosened. One trick is to wrap an old drive belt around the pulley to hold it steady-don't try this with a belt that is to go back on the car; it will be stretched or damaged.
  1. If necessary for additional clearance to remove the lower timing belt cover, remove the two rear bolts from the center beam. Slowly lower the jack and the engine until the clearance is gained.
  2. Remove the rubber seal from around the belt tension adjusting nut (do not loosen the nut). Remove the lower timing belt cover.
  3. On all models except Prelude with VTEC, lock the timing belt adjuster arm in place using one of the lower cover (6 x 1mm) mounting bolts.

There are two belts in this system; the one running to the camshaft pulley is the timing belt. The other, shorter one drives the balance shaft and is referred to as the balancer belt or timing balancer belt. Use a piece of chalk or a marker to place an identifying arrow on the belts. The arrow can identify the direction of rotation or the outer edge of the belts. The belts must be reinstalled so it moves in the same direction. Protect the belts from oil, coolant, etc. It's an even better idea to replace the belts at this point.

  1. Loosen the timing belt adjustment nut. Push on the tensioner to relieve tension from the balancer belt, then tighten the nut. Remove the balancer belt.
  2. On all models except Prelude with VTEC, loosen the lockbolt installed earlier and the adjusting nut. Push on the tensioner to release the timing belt, then tighten the nut. Carefully remove the timing belt. On Prelude VTEC models, remove the timing belt from the pulleys, then remove the bolts securing the auto-tensioner. Remove the auto-tensioner from the engine.
To install:
  1. Check the position of the timing marks. The timing pointer must be perfectly aligned with the TDC (white mark) on the flywheel or flex-plate; the camshaft pulley must be aligned so that the word UP is at the top of the pulley and the marks on the edge of the pulley are aligned with the surfaces of the head. Additionally, the face of the front timing balancer pulley has a mark which must be aligned with the notch on the oil pump body. This pulley is the one to the left crank when viewed from the pulley end.
  2. Fit the timing belt over the pulleys and tensioner. On DOHC engines without VTEC, remove the 5mm pin punches from behind the cam pulleys.
  3. Except Prelude VTEC models:
    1. Temporarily install the crank pulley and bolt.
    2. Loosen the tensioner adjusting nut 1 turn, then tighten it. Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise until the camshaft pulley has moved 3 teeth to create tension on the belt. Loosen the nut again, then tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
Always rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise when viewed from the pulley end. Rotating it clockwise will cause improper adjustment and possible damage.
  1. On Prelude VTEC models:
    1. Hold the auto-tensioner with the maintenance bolt facing up. Loosen and remove the bolt.
Handle the tensioner carefully so the oil inside does not spill or leak. Replenish with clean engine oil if any does leak. Total capacity is1/4fl. oz. (8 ml).
  1. Make sure all timing marks are positioned correctly (as described earlier).
  2. Align the rear timing balancer pulley (to the right of the crank pulley) using a 6x100mm bolt or rod. Mark the bolt or rod at a point 2.913 in. (74mm) from the end. Remove the bolt from the maintenance hole on the side of the block; insert the rod into the hole. Align the 74mm mark with the face of the hole. This pin will hold the shaft in place during installation.
  3. Loosen the tensioner adjusting nut and verify that the timing balancer belt adjuster moves freely.

  1. Fit the balancer belt over the pulleys. Remove the bolt or rod from the maintenance hole.
  2. Temporarily install the crank pulley. Rotate the engine one turn counterclockwise, then tighten the tensioner adjusting nut to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm). Double check the positions of the timing marks and make sure they still line up. If not remove the belts and repeat the procedures.
Both belt adjusters are spring-loaded to properly tension the belts. Do not apply any additional pressure to the pulleys or tensioners while performing the adjustment.
  1. Remove the crank pulley. Remove the lockbolt installed earlier on the timing belt adjuster arm. Install the maintenance bolt with a new washer. Tighten it to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  2. Install the lower cover, making certain the rubber seals are in place and correctly located. Tighten the retaining bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  3. If applicable, raise the lower beam and engine into place. Install the rear bolts for the lower beam. Tighten them to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm) on 1990-91 Accords, 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm) on 1992-95 Accords and 43 ft. lbs. (60 Nm) on 1992-95 Preludes.
  4. Install the key on the crankshaft and install the crankshaft pulley. Apply oil to the bolt threads and tighten it to the following: 1991-93 Accord: 159 ft. lbs. (220 Nm)
  1. Install the dipstick tube and dipstick.
  2. Install the side engine mount (refer to engine removal and installation for procedures). Remove the jack from under the engine.
  3. Install the upper belt cover.
  4. Install the side engine mount support bracket if it was removed.
  5. Install the valve cover.
  6. Install the compressor and/or alternator drive belt; adjust the tension.
  7. Route the wiring harness over the valve cover and connect the wiring to the alternator.
  8. Install the power steering pump and install the belt.
  9. Reinstall the cruise control actuator. Connect the vacuum hose and the electrical connector.
  10. Double check all installation items, paying particular attention to loose hoses or hanging wires, untightened nuts, poor routing of hoses and wires (too tight or rubbing) and tools left in the engine area.
  11. Refill the engine coolant.
  12. Install the splash shield under the engine.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Start the engine, allowing it to idle. Check for any signs of leakage or any sound of the belts rubbing or binding.

    2. Clamp the mounting flange of the tensioner in a vise using a cloth or blocks of wood to protect it. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the maintenance hole. Place the stopper (tool number 14540-P13-003) or an equivalent clamp on the tensioner, then turn the screwdriver clockwise to compress the bottom. Be careful not to damage the threads or the gasket contact surface.
    3. Install the maintenance bolt on the tensioner with a new gasket. Tighten to 6 ft. lbs. (8 Nm).
    4. Make sure no oil is leaking from around the maintenance bolt, then install the tensioner on the engine. Make sure the stopper stays in place and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).

  9. Make sure all timing marks are positioned correctly (as described earlier).
  10. Align the rear timing balancer pulley (to the right of the crank pulley) using a 6x100mm bolt or rod. Mark the bolt or rod at a point 2.913 in. (74mm) from the end. Remove the bolt from the maintenance hole on the side of the block; insert the rod into the hole. Align the 74mm mark with the face of the hole. This pin will hold the shaft in place during installation.
  11. Loosen the tensioner adjusting nut and verify that the timing balancer belt adjuster moves freely. Fig. 13: The balancer shaft must be held in position during timing belt installation 86803139.gif

  12. Fit the balancer belt over the pulleys. Remove the bolt or rod from the maintenance hole.
  13. Temporarily install the crank pulley. Rotate the engine one turn counterclockwise, then tighten the tensioner adjusting nut to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm). Double check the positions of the timing marks and make sure they still line up. If not remove the belts and repeat the procedures. NOTE: Both belt adjusters are spring-loaded to properly tension the belts. Do not apply any additional pressure to the pulleys or tensioners while performing the adjustment.
  14. Remove the crank pulley. Remove the lockbolt installed earlier on the timing belt adjuster arm. Install the maintenance bolt with a new washer. Tighten it to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  15. Install the lower cover, making certain the rubber seals are in place and correctly located. Tighten the retaining bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  16. If applicable, raise the lower beam and engine into place. Install the rear bolts for the lower beam. Tighten them to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm) on 1990–91 Accords, 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm) on 1992–95 Accords and 43 ft. lbs. (60 Nm) on 1992–95 Preludes.
  17. Install the key on the crankshaft and install the crankshaft pulley. Apply oil to the bolt threads and tighten it to the following:
    • 1990 Accord: 166 ft. lbs. (230 Nm)
    • 1991–93 Accord: 159 ft. lbs. (220 Nm)
    • 1992–93 Prelude: 159 ft. lbs. (220 Nm)
    • 1994–95 Accord and Prelude: 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm)
  18. Install the dipstick tube and dipstick.
  19. Install the side engine mount (refer to engine removal and installation for procedures). Remove the jack from under the engine.
  20. Install the upper belt cover.
  21. Install the side engine mount support bracket if it was removed.
  22. Install the valve cover.
  23. Install the compressor and/or alternator drive belt; adjust the tension.
  24. Route the wiring harness over the valve cover and connect the wiring to the alternator.
  25. Install the power steering pump and install the belt.
  26. Reinstall the cruise control actuator. Connect the vacuum hose and the electrical connector.
  27. Double check all installation items, paying particular attention to loose hoses or hanging wires, untightened nuts, poor routing of hoses and wires (too tight or rubbing) and tools left in the engine area.
  28. Refill the engine coolant.
  29. Install the splash shield under the engine.
  30. Connect the negative battery cable.
  31. Start the engine, allowing it to idle. Check for any signs of leakage or any sound of the belts rubbing or binding.

1994 honda accord distributor not turning


you mean to say the distributor rotor doesnt turn? if thats the case you either have a broken camshaft, broken timing belt or broken distributor drive, better pull out the distributor and see if the cam turns when you crank the motor...
