Hi, there is a resistor pack that is used to slow the fan down on settings 1 2 and 3. When this part fails your fan only works on high 4 & 5. Find the blower motor and follow the wires that come out of it. They plug into the resistor pack. Remove and replace it and your fan will work again. The part is normally around $20-$30 US It is normally located in the air box behind the glove box on the interior of the car passenger side.

Concerning the defroster, there are doors that open and shut to move the air from one place to another. One may be stuck or the motor or vacuum relay is not working. You will need to pull of all the covers over your system where the vent doors are located and check the little doors for being stuck or not moving when you activate defroster switch.

Heater not working on 2010 f-150

If both heater hoses are hot, and the radiator is full of coolant, it may be a blend door problem under the dash.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and out thru the vents.
It may still be under Ford warranty.

Blower on my 2004 Chev Colorado only works on high setting #4.

You need a resistor pack, which is likely located in the air box, near the blower motor.

Front windshield defroster not engaging on 1999 - 1500 Silverado

i just went thru this problem with my 95 1500. on mine it was the controls just like you discribe on yours one for fan one for temp and one for settings.first i thought it was the heater blend door acturator. its located on left side of heater next to the gas peddel. pulled the wire plug out and test for power theres 3 wires to this plug one white one brown and one black. the brown wire was hot with key on the black is ground and the white is the one that sends a siginal to this electric motor witch redirects air flow from floor to dash vents to defrost. i had to order the controls thru autozone 135.00 with shipping. you might get lucky and find one at a bone yard the ones in my area dident have any. i almost bet you will find thats your problem too. good luck OLD SCHOOL.
