Question about 2002 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

I am trying to replace the front section of the exhaust system of a VW Golf 1.9 TDI (52 plate), but I am having great difficulty getting access to the last bolt that secures the exhaust to the manifold. This bolt is located between the exhaust flange and the engine block. Although the other two bolts had restricted access, they weren't that bad to get out from underneath the car. This last bolt can not be seen from the top of the engine compartment, and although just visible from underneath, access seems impossible. Are you able to advise please? Thank you.

My VW golf TDi won't start since I changed my battery. It started fine for three days and now there is absolutely nothing there when I turn the key not even a click. Please help

1. Do all lights, accessories, central locking system etc in the car all operate normally.

2. Have you tested to see if the car starts when you try jump starting from another vehicle.

3. What warning lights were displaying on the vehicle a day or 2 before you had the problem.

4. Were you having the same starting problems with the old battery that you have just replaced.

Changing front and back brakes on vw golf tdi 54 plate

Replacing brake pads or rotors does not need to be difficult if you have the right tools. Volkswagen and Audi rear calipers require that the piston be rotated while being pushed back into the caliper.

Where can I find a place on the web that shows how to replace the timing belt on a 2003 VW TDI with out buying the shop manual? I was told that you have to lift the engine in order to get to it?

There is two ways to change the timing belt.First-only can be done by professional VW mechanic without opening the front of the car.Second-need to remove front bumper, head lights plate, cooling system radiator/not an A/C radiator/ to get access to the timing belt.Hard job If you do not have an experiance.

My vw golf tdi suffered a loss of powere whilst driving then followed with what sounds like a holed exhaust from the front. It wont go over 30mph and there are no warning lights on the dash.

Must be a broken cat converter. The platinum honeycomb core is broken into several pieces and clogging the exhaust pipe preventing you to go more than 45 mph. Try hitting it with a rubber mallet and listen if any pieces rattling inside. If it sounds like pebbles inside, it's time to replace it.

Turbo loud whistling and lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust

OK now what i am going to tell you, you need to listen to....
sounds like your turbo is on the way out and need to be repaired or replaced
if you continue driving the car the spool may snap and go into your motor and that will cost you a new motor
stop driving it...
if you need to don't push the car be soft
diesels are not a good car to push anyway
take it and get it fixed or you will be out of pocket for some time
i have had this happen here and it is not worth the damage

Vw golf bonnet release

On mine, a RHD, it is a plastic lever just forward of the door post. It is a crappy piece of plastic about four inches long.Mine has recently broken and will result in a bill for about £60-70 for replacing the lever and the cable (the cable is very tight)
Getting the handle off was a hell of a job until someone spotted that inside the handle, on the lower part as accessed from the outside, is a clip that needs to be pulled out to release the handle. Only then could we reach the cable and that took an enourmopus amount of effirt to release the bonnet.
As the mechanic said, "I didn't expect this sort of rubbish from VW"
