1989 Buick Century Power Window Problem

Main switch at Drivers door has no 12 VDC at switch, Power Window Breaker at fuse panel checks good. How is wire routed from breaker to door switch? Is there any connection points or fuse in-line with this circuit? I don't have access to any wiring diagrams.

I have a 1989 Buick Century - The driver's door window will go up and down with no problem. The back window on the driver's side goes up and down no problem.

The passenger side window went down but will not go back up. The passenger rear window with not go up or down.

I pulled the panel off the passenger side door and disconnected the window regulator and plug in a new window reguator . When I pushed the down button the window reguator went down, when I pushed the up button nothing happened .

I pulled the drivers door panel off and check the switch, everything seemed normal. I ran wire checks with a ohm meter and all the wires checked out.

I plug the new motor in and all of a sudden the window regulator would go up and down. Then I check the widow button on the passengers door and it went up and down . I reconnected the old window rmotor and it went up and down.

I reasembled the door and then put the button back in the driver's door and then nothing would work again.

I installed a new switch on the drivers door - windows on the drivers side worked but windows on the passenger side didn't work.

I install a new switch on the passengeer from front and it still doesn't work

    What can be wrong

The problem I am having is the drivers side switches will operate the drivers side windows. The switches on the drivers side , at one time operated the passenger side windows. This is no longer the case. The passenger side switches do not operate the passenger side windows. What I am looking for is the schematic diagram for the power window system in my Mary Kay Cosmetic Century.

It sounds like a bad ground somewhere maybe a wire is shorting out . My windows wouldn't work so I just ran some wires from my battery and then unhook the two wires from the window switch and just touch the wires from the battery together with the switch wires and Presto the windows go up or down it is not very pretty but it is a lot better than spending a small fortune on window motors or switches or whatever . hope this helps

Check the wire bundle that runs between the drivers door and the door post. This door is the most used in the entire vehicle which makes these wires flex and eventually break. I had the exact same problem, did exactly what you did until I finally figured out the problem was not where the symptoms showed up. It is a very tight spot to do any kind of a repair, but I did it and so can you.

How do you change the power window fuses in a 1999 buick century?

in the fuse panel on passenger side of dash there is only a breaker 30amp rating sq. metalic color, this is not a fuse.
i suggest checking the wires in the drivers door loom as these fray and short out. check the wires before investing into parts you may not need.

None of the Power Windows work. Both the fuse and circuit breaker are ok, and there is power to the main switch on the driver's door. When my multimeter is connected across the power and ground, there is...

What you can do is open the drivers door and there is a rubber boot between the door and the body.Peel it back and check the wires. The big wires for the window motors like to break here from the door being open and closed so frequently.Check them over very carefully. If possible slide the rubber boot as far one way or the other so you can see all the wires. You might be getting power to the switch but it might not be going back out.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1990 buick century All power windows will not move fuses on fuse block (locaated in back of glove box door )checked ok with ohm meter T.I.A. ****

Well I was wrong, the window on pass side worked from the switch on the pass door !! So now that I know this I took apart the driver side door switch controll panel ( ie. 4 windows switch up/down & 4 door lock / unlock switch) I found 12 volts to the door lock section but NO 12 volts to the window section ( with key on) !! ratheer then trying to trace out this wire (oange) I took 12 volts from the door & jumpered it to the window 12 volt supply { now I know the door wire is thicker ( more amps) then the window supply but I dont't think I'll be useing all 4 window moters at once...} oh well what the hell it's almost 20 years old has three sets of seats & gets close to 28 MPG....
