On a 2004 Buick rendezvous there is a little red light that keeps blinking expect when the car is running. I'm pretty sure its draining my battery. Any suggestions?

That little red light is your anti-theft system and it does not drain enough power to drain your battery unless your car is sitting for a year. I would check for a draw. Unhook your negative battery cable and hook a test light between the cable and the negative terminal. If the light lights up brightly, then you have something draining the battery at a significant rate. I start by unhooking the main cable off of the alternator, this is a prime place to start for a battery drain. If unhooking the alternator does not dim the test light then move on to the power distribution center and pull fuses and relays one at a time until the light dims, this will at least narrow down the circuit that needs attention.

No light can come up including ignation key

check vehicle battery connections for obvious corrosion. If none is present, use another vehicle and battery jumper cables-properly hooked up, and with 2nd vehicle idling, try cranking Toyota. If not immediately starting, give it a few minutes to charge toyota battery, and then try again. A fully drained battery will require several minutes charge from second vehicles charging system to sufficiently charge drained battery.

How do i diagnose what is killing my battery on a 2001 Impala. Do we know of anything that is recalled or a notorious culprit? This is my Girl's car, and i dont wanna just give up on it

well, this is how to check for a short ! hook a test light to negative post on battery, then hook other end to the neg, cable itself, . leave light hooked up, and remove negative cable from battery with light still hooked up to it. give the unhooked light and cable about 5 minutes. if light glows after neg, is disconnected from battery. you have a drain. to find it, leave light hooked up. start by pulling fuses when you pull a fuse and the light goes out youve found what circuit is causing the drain.

Hi, I have a 2008 Pontiac G5 and I accidentally kept the lights on all day. Since I only have a positive (red) connection, I ground the negative connection to metal as well as the other car negative...

sounds like you are on the right track. Hook the jumper cables up to the dead car first. The red cable should go to the jumper terminal as you mentioned and a good place to hook up the black cable is the bolts on the strut tower.

then with the other car running hook up the red lead to the cars positive battery cable and then the negative to a good ground. Let the two cars sit for about 5 to ten minutes to give the dead battery a chance to charge.

Once the dead car is started let it idle with the lights turned off for at least 45 minute to an hour or drive it for the same amount of time with the light on (I assume you will be driving in the dark) or if its day time drive it for 30 to 40 minutes with the lights off. This should be enough time for the alternator to charge the dead battery.

Battery keeps draining overnite. Once it is jump started, it is fine. Could it be the electrical system?

It absolutely is......... But what part? check all that you can, does anything light up when the jumper cables are hooked up? lights? glove box light? dome light? sun visor mirror lights? The alternator can short out and drain the battery. Disconnect it (the large cable) and put a test light in line, it should NOT light up. If you cant find anything obvious, a shop may have to check for a battery draw.

No. It is just the battery. If the alternator was bad then the engine would not stay running when you removed the jumper cables. The alternator is what is supplying power to keep you running. So just replace the battery and you will be good to go!

2003 S TYPE JAGUAR. DON'T DRIVE OFTEN BATTERY

You must charge the battery or you can use jumper cables from another battery to your battery to activate the electric trunk release, just be sure you hook up the jumper cables correctly ( cable to + on the battery and black to _ terminal of battery)and wear safety glasses when hooking up cables this should release the trunk. Also as a precaution always hook up + or red jumper cables wires first to prevent a arcing spark which is not terribly dangerous but this order in which to connect jumper cables is recommended.
