Question about 1990 Ford Escort
No good news here. You need to have the transmission checked. This could be just low fluid level but if the fluid is good you have a transmission problem and will need to be repaired. It could be something as simple as a fluid and filter change. Just don't let them back flush the system with the synthetic machine. It cost $50 to $60 for a regular Fluid and Filter change at a shop. Typically they charge $140 or more to use the machine and you usually end up rebuilding the transmission within 6 months of them doing that.
