Unscrew the armrests first.

Then you will see a few (i don't recall but i think there's 2) 5/16 sized screws under that.

The rest of the door panel is held on with plastic clips, which will most likely break, so be prepared to buy a few of them. You can gently "tug" on the door panel, starting at a corner and use a small flat head screwdriver, or a putty knife to pop out the clips.

The dor panel is held on with clips you do have to remove the following:

take a phillips head screw driver and remove the screw that is screwed into the recessed area behind the door handle and the arm rest(that scres is much longer)

Push the door panel inward so that you can see a ring clip around the window roll up handle

take a small flat bladed screw driver and or a small needle nose pliar and pop the ring clp off then remove the handle

the door panel is now ready to come off start at the bottom of the door and pry out the bottom (You can use a large flat bladed screw driver for a putty knife you wil be able to get both of your hands under the panel (I open the door , get down on my knees and slide my hands up under the panel you hear it pop as it pops out of the clips

Once you get it out so far you can force it up over the lip of the door where the windo goes u and down

Good luck

Here are the instructions:
    • Gently remove the door panel of your Contour, ensuring that you don't break the three door clips that hold it on. As you pull the panel from the door, support the panel from below. This will ensure that none of the wiring inside the door is damaged. Release the wiring from the components inside the door, including the power window mechanism, power lock mechanism (if equipped) and the stereo speaker. Place the door panel in a safe area with the clips so they are accessible when you are ready to replace them.
    • 2Remove the window glass by sliding it up and out of the door. Support the glass from the bottom so it doesn't drop and break. Window glass for a Contour can cost around $150 to replace. After you remove the glass, put it in a safe place. You may want to wrap it in old towels or blankets to protect it until you are ready to reinstall it.

    • Unplug the wires from your Contour's window motor, and remove the screws from the window motor and regulator. Remove the power window motor and regulator from your Contour to make way for the new parts.
    • 4Install the new window regulator into the door, and replace the screws that held them in place.
    • 5Replace the window glass into the door, and connect it to your Contour's power window motor and regulator assembly.
    • 6Replace the door panel. Reconnect the wiring for the power window and power lock controls, and replace each clip that connects the panel to the door.

The driver side window is down and will not go up. How do you get the panel off to look to see what the problem is?

Hey man, for a VW the door panels are usually held on in a few places. First you need to remove the armrest it should come off with a couple bolts, they might be hidden under pop off plastic plugs. Also you will have to remove the window switch it should pop out of the panel after removing the retaining screws. Now unplug the window switch and try not to damage the factory plastic plugs. Now the door panel itself is held on the door with plastic clips. An easy method is to get a good size flat head screwdriver and pry around the outside edge of the panel. You shouldnt have to use to much force and you will clearly feel when the clips pop free. After your sure you have the panel loose go ahead and take it off the car. Note to check for any screws or hardware not scene like in the door jam area. and if it does not want to come off that means its still attached to the car and should not be forced. Ok so if you have the door panel off there will be a layer of plastic glued to the door peel that back. Inside your door you will see your power window motor, the track that the glass sits in and the guide that it runs along. The first place you should inspect is the window motor itself and the cables attached. In my expieriance i have found when a window wont move 9 times out of 10 its a bad power window motor or snapped cable. You can hook up the window switch back to the car to test the motor. Also keep in mink it could be something as simple as needing to greese the window track. Hope that helps.

How to remove left rear door panel

Hi, technically these door panels are held on by a combination of plastic clips that need to be carefully pried off with the door panel, the power window motor switch must be unclipped carefully, and any philips head trim screws need to be removed as well, also be sure the qwindow is open all the way down this will also help make the removal of the door panel a bit smoother.

Take care

Front passenger window not working. Need instructions to remove door panel to access window motor.

It could be as simple as a fuze...or your power window switch needs to be cleaned.

If not

there should be screws located inside the handle and other areas on the door panel, undo all those first,
The door panel itself is held on with plastic clips, you can use a flat head screwdriver and gently start at the bottom of the panel/door and work your way around the door undoing all the plastic clips by pulling gentle.
Dont forget to unscrew your power window switch and unplug when removing the panel

Front right passanger window motor need to be repace, I have taken off the panel but unsure on how to get the motor out

First disconnect your negative battery cable. Next locate and remove the screws that hold your interior door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips). Once you have removed the interior door handles, unplug the wire clips to the switches. Next you will need a small pry bar to remove the door panel itself. The door panel is held in place by snap in clips; try to get the pry bar as close to, or directly under the clips, to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel. Once you have removed the clips, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door. You will need to remove the plastic sheeting to gain access to the window regulator. You will need to remove the regulator and motor as a single unit, and once it's removed you can replace the motor.
Install everything in reverse.

The driver door power window motor is busted, I got to get the door off to inspect the parts and assess the damage... how?

you have to remove the interior door panel its held in place my either palstic rivets or screws or both. you will mostlikely need a philips screwdriver, a ratchet set, some wrenches, and patience. the plastic rivets break easily too. if the window is up its gonna be a little tough to remove the panel completely. good luck

1999 GMC Suburban - how to install dr side power window motor/arm

The window should be put in a closed position.
Hidden screws behind buttons of the same color as panel should be opened up using a pick or small screwdiver.
Pry the lower part of the panel away from the door using a paint scraper, The lower half of this panel is usually held in with plastic fastners. When pulled hard enough they will release. These fastners are replacable you can buy them at your local body shop. After releasing all plastic fastners lift door panel off door lock in an upward thrust. Be careful not to pull to far away from door due to wire harnesses and speaker wires ect.. These can be uncliped to remkove whole panel. To operate window you can replug window harness wires in order to bring the window into the proper position to remove bolts that hold it into place. Carefully position glass in upward position and duct tape in place.
The regulator is held in place by three or more bolts.
Remove regulator.
Compare your new part to the existing window regulator.
Installation is reversal of removal.
