How can i check to see if the cooling fans are both working

if engine at long stand still,the engine temperature will rise about 190 degrees the cooling fan suppose to automaticaly turn on when coolant temperature sensor get hot it cause its resistance decrease causing pcm to send power to coolant fan relays and cooling fans, when you turn on AC the cooling fans suppose to turn on to cool down AC CONDENSOR, IF NOT AC WONT WORK COOLING FAN COOLS DOWN REFRIGERANT SO IT CAN RECYCLE THROUGH THE SYSTEM AGAIN.your cooling is suppose to turn on when engine at a sit still if vechicle not moving as coolant temperature rises at a set point the cooling fans will turn on cool down engine.cooling fans dont turn on when you first cold stsrt vechicle unless you have AC SWITCH ON.if cooling fans dont turn on when vechicle at a long stand still or moving along slow traffic.if coolant temperature sensor been replaced and fuses and relays okay have dealership check see if pcm driver circuit working faulty pcm will cause cooling fans not to turn on.

CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT LEVEL AND REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND THE RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF CAR OVERHEATING AND COOLING FAN NOT WORKING.CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH OKAY,HOT WIRE COOLANT FAN,IF FAN WORKS, PROBLEM COULD BE FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR,OR FAULTY PCM, IF COOLING FAN DONT WORK WHEN YOU HOT WIRE FAN.THE COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY NEED REPLACING.

HOT WIRE COOLING FAN USING JUMPER WIRES TO BATTERY.IF FAN DONT RUN WHEN HOT WIRED FAN MOTOR BAD NEED REPLACING. IF FAN RUN WHEN HOT WIRED. CHECK COOLING FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IF ALL IS GOOD.YOUR ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR NOT WORKING.IT CONTROL COOLING FAN AT SET TEMPERATURE IF SENSOR OPEN OR FAULTY THE COOLING FAN WONT TURN ON.CHECK COOLING FAN WIRES FOR DAMAGE.IF ALL STILL CHECK OUT GOOD HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED FOR PCM FAULT.IF IT FAILS NO COOLING FAN WONT TURN ON.

1. check the cooling fan fuses
2. supply battery voltage directly to the fan assembly plug
a. if fan is good
locate and test/replace cooling fan relay
b. if bad
replace cooling fan assembly
if still is not working check continuity cooling fan system circuit/wiring

most likey the temperature sensor on the cylinder head somewhere

SOUND LIKE COOLING FANS NOT RUNNING CHECK AND SEE DOES COOLING FANS TURN ON WHEN ENGINE OVERHEATS IF NOT CHECK COOLING FANS FUSE AND RELAY IF BOTH CHECKS OUT GOOD HOT WIRE COOLING FAN.IF IT WORKS.PROBLEM COULD BE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR- PCM- AND OPEN OR SHORT IN WIRES.IF COOLING FAN DONT WORK WHEN YOU HOT WIRE IT PROBLEMS THE FAN MOTOR.

You have two fan's on your truck, 1 is a fan clutch runs with the drive belt, 2 elec fan motor, with test light and engine running at normal temp, just a little bit above 1/2 way on your temp gauge check voltage at elec. cooling fan harness if you have voltage at one of the two wire's and fan don't turn on, bad cooling fan motor, on the fan clutch after you check voltage at elec. fan motor turn engine off, with your hand spin drive belt fan if it spin's freely bad fan clutch, replace it.Also check cooling level.Hope this was very helpful

You might check the cooling fans on the condenser to see if they are running when the ac is on.If they are not check for blown fuse,or bad cooling fan relay.Do you notice if the ac cools better when running constantly,and the ac is not so cool when in traffic,stopping and going,and running slow?If so the cooling fan,or fans are not working.If the fan fuse and the relays check out fine,then replace the fan,or fans.If I can help any more please [email protected]

it looks like that you cooling fan is not working, check the fan when temperature is up if its not working than check the fuse for the cooling fan, if its ok than check the current at the fan end if you fund the current the fan is faulty replace the cooling fan.

sensor may be bad. . any other symptoms that you think caused the cooling fan to fail?
