Question about 2006 Volvo S40

1 Answer

It is time for my 2006 volvo s40 to have its 30,000 mile service. the volvo dealership is going to charge me about $350, whereas express tune and lube will charge me $184. both tell me the basic info about the service inspection. the big difference goes to the a/c pollen filter. volvo says you must remove the gas pedal and panel to get to the filter. is this true? is it necessary for a volvo dealership to be the one to do these maintenance calls?

I think that the best service comes at a dealer, in general, but it's not always necessary to have service performed at the dealer, especially when trying to economize.

I couldn't find online information about the 2006 Volvo S40, so that means that buying the service manual should help to find the information that you require.

Good luck on choosing a service center for maintenance of your vehicle.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Have 2006 volvo s60 radio is not working, comes on but no audio/sound

You probably need to enter your radio code. If you do not have your code, look through your owners packet, you can call your local dealership service department for help.

How much does a tune up cost

For a basic "tune-up," the rates as low as $30-$50 in places where the cost of living is low, to as much as $100 or more in expensive areas where more is included in the tune-up.
Most places will charge you for parts and labor separately. Often tune-up parts like spark plugs, air filters and fuel filters will run $20-$60. The hourly labor quotes are from $40 an hour, to over $110-$150 an hour at BMW and Mercedes dealerships in urban areas. In the San Francisco Bay Area, the ordinary repair shops charge rates from $55-$80 an hour, and ordinary dealerships rates of $80-$90.
Dealer 30k, 60k or 90k mile tune-ups can run from $250 for 3-4 hours of labor and basic maintenance, to over $1,000 at places with high labor costs and additional maintenance services, such as timing belt replacement.
If the mechanic identifies needed repairs, this can add a significant amount to your total.

Yes.
My dealership charges about $325.00 for a 30K. Please describe what services that they are providing that would justify $500.00. That is out of line, IMHO.
