If you have a diagnostic scantool then connect it to the data link connector of the car in order to reset the Engine Control Module (ECM). Therefore the dash light will shut off.
If you don't have a diagnostic scantool you can try to disconnect the battery from car terminals, wait for 20 minutes, and reconnect the battery in order to reset the Engine Control Module (ECM) and shut off the dash light.

1992 F350-7.3 4wheel drive is hard to start after changing fuel filter and fuel pump. Why is it hard to start?

indicates fuel leak back and fuel pressure drop
check filter installation for seal not sitting properly, loose fuel line fitting , pump installed correctly (flow wise ), filter installed correctly (flow wise)
air getting in to fuel lines
the thing you are looking for is indicated by the initial hard start but when started runs ok ( good fuel to the engine eventually) and then by the fact that if the engine is allowed to sit for a long period the problem returns meaning that the fuel pressure is not being held
could even be a problem fuel pressure regulator allowing the fuel to bypass ( no pressure =hard starting) then gets enough pressure to run ok but allows that pressure to drain off over time

I have a1995 2.0 non turbo Talon. New fuel pump relay and a new ASD relay . it cranks but fuel pump doesnt prime or come on and there is no spark. is there a shut down reset ? Do I need a reflash on my...

the autoshutoff relay may be out also..it controls both the ignition and fuel pump thru the key switch.. try taking the negative battery cable off with the key on...kills all the circuits..then after turning the key off..reconnect the cable and turn the key to the run position..DO NOT START..listen for the fuel pump to buzz 2-3 seconds..some dash indicators will go out..then try to start but only if you hear the pump buzz..if it does not buzz, be looking at that relay..

Car starts and runs for a while then shuts off while running. What could be wrong?

Some fault code or check engine light there? Scanned the computer to know if some is stored.

I suggest to check fuel system (injectors, fuel pump pressure, etc), also air intake sensors and ECT (temperature) sensor.

Keep us updated.

1985 ford f350 diesel will not allow the ignition to engage. Dash light says water in fuel. I put on a new fuel filter. Did not help. Can I bypass the sensor?

The Diesel engine doesn't have an ignition system. Also the dash light shouldn't cause it not to start? You said you changed the fuel filter right? After you started cranking it again did the lift pump fill the new filter up. I have had these before where the lift pumps go bad causing low lift pump pressure which causes the water in fuel light to be on. Did it die going down the road or did you shut it off and can't get it restarted.

First of all, why do you think it is fuel at all, since it could be the ignition?
Second is that if the car shuts down, how do you know it is not simply a clogged fuel filter?
A bad pressure return regulator can blow out fuel pumps by causing the pressure to be so high the pump over works itself.

I suggest you need better data.
A fuel pressure gauge would be nice.
You could improvise one out of a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge. You could also run some long thin wires to the fuel pump relay output or even to the pump itself, and hang a little LED off the dash as a temporary diagnostic indicator light.
To catch an intermittent, you need constant data.

Stopped vehicle and went into store when I came out it would not start. I used some starting fluid and it starts and runs for as long as I spray starting fluid.

You provide a good clue, the fact that it runs only when spraying starting fluid indicates a fuel problem. Have someone stick their head under the rear of the Ford near the gas tank. Turn the key to the on position, so the dash lights iluminate, but do not turn the key enough to crank the engine over. You or your helper should hear a whirring sound, which would indicate the fuel pump is working. If you hear nothing, you may have a bad fuel pump. Some vehicles have a fuse for the fuel pump, check your owners manual to see if yours does. If you don't have the original owners manual, let me know, their is a site to get a free download of the manual I can provide you with.
