Either the belt is too long or the tensioner is seized up and they failed to tell you that it needed replacement or the belt just needs to be tightened a little, new belts do stretch a little in the fir few days of being put on,either way its not a bad fix,get it back there before it destroys the new belts, hope this helps

Belt tightening on '98 tercel

There is no adjustment on newer cars they use a spring loaded tensioner wheel that keeps constant tension on the belt. When the belt starts squealing on cars as the electrical accessories are turned on the belt must be replaced it has worn out and is slipping.

Squeeling when the car starts.

Your belts need replaced. Its the belt slipping that causes the squeel. Sometimes the idle pulley or belt tensioner will make the same noise if wore.

Squeels at start for first two seconds

The squeeling could be from a worn belt or if oil drips on belt overnight. Replace the belt first to see if that fixes it.Good luck.
