What makes up the governor assembly in a Chrysler 300M

All the parts you listed are internal to the transmission. The cable is external - it runs from the shifter lever to the range selector lever on the transmission. Their analysis doesn't sound right though. If the cable is broken, the shifter should move freely as you described. But that (broken cable and bent lever) happened AFTER the problem of the transmission being stuck in reverse. Your efforts to unstick probably bent the shifter and broke the cable. It would seem something was jammed before you tried to get out of reverse, possibly inside the transmission.

It is difficult to shift into drive and impossible to shift into the manual shift gears. What is the fix?

check for a bent or damaged shifter linkage or cable, may be an internal problem in the tranny itself. shifter may be coming apart internally also.

I'm having trouble moving the shifter

If you're on an incline, that will affect it. Try setting the park brake prior to shifting to park. Also there is a cable/interlok safety system that prevents shifter movement out of park without the brake pedal being depressed, that may need adjustment. Also check under the hood see if the shift selector cable is routed close to the exhaust, it could be melting. And maybe the selector cable needs adjustment.
Good luck with that and let me know if there is anything more I can help with.

2002 chrysler 300 wont go into park

It sounds like your linkage is binding. Hold the brake down and shift between drive and reverse a few times and then into park. I had the same problem with my 2002 300m. It went away after working the shifter a number of times. DO NOT FORCE IT.

WONT SHIFT IN TO PARK, I HAVE A 2001 CHRYSLER 300 AND AT FIRST THE SHIFTER WAS STICKY, GETTING HARD TO SHIFT GEARS, AND NOW IT WON'T SHIFT IN TO PARK, WILL SHIFT IN TO ALL THE OTHER GEARS, BUT NOT PARK....

Sounds like the shift cable is coming apart inside. You will need to disconnect it at both ends and make sure it slides easily. if not, change it. If you are good with mechanical things and have a bit of patience it's not too hard. If not let a shop do it.

Gear shifting on 2002 chrysler 300 m

transaxle reset mode page 148 of the owner manual. when the transaxle sensor detects an abnormal condition that can cause damage, it drops the transmission into second gear to protect the transaxle from damage. pull over to the side of the road, shut off the car and restart it. it may go away for a little while and let you drive normally. mine kept getting worse. I took it to the dealer and they had to replace a part that works with the transaxle (not the transaxle or transmission itself). it cost about $900 and took them 3 attempts as the first two replacement parts were bad out of the box.

Gear shift stickinh

Sounds like the shifter cable is corroded to the point that it might snap. Replace the shifter cable. Best wishes to you.
