The plastic gears inside the motor assembly are stripped out. One needs a new motor and antenna to correct the problem.

My arieldoes not go down when raidio is turned of

It could be that the motor in your antenna has gotten disconnected or the plastic cable that winds the antenna up and down has broken. Typically, one simply replaces the antenna when it quits working.

Power antenna won't go down

Usually the antenna is operated by a spool and a reel of stuff like white nylon or plastic "wire".
When you push or turn the switch or when you turn on the radio, however the antenna is supposed to go up, the spool will turn in the direction to extend the string and push the antenna up.
When you turn off the radio, or move the switch to "retract", the spool will turn and wind up the string and pull the antenna down. These strings often break, usually they only last about 5 years.
The motor you seek is inside the fender or the trunk, as the case may be, and it is hidden behind the inner fender shield or in the trunk, behind the inner trunk panel.
The motor is hidden to prevent snow, ice, water, and dirt from ruining it.
Be blessed.

Antenna relay switch

is it original antenna and radio? the antenna runs on a seperate switch oor goes up and down with radio on and off switch? if it is original stereo that is original chances are the antenna is broken and stuck in up position the mast may be purchased at dealership but motor may also be no good or not far behind. Listen at antenna for motor noise when radio is turned off if you hear the motor the plasic that drives it inside is broken.

The radio antenna does not fully extend or contract when radio turned on/off. I can hear the little motor humming away, but I need to manually pull the antenna up or push it down to stop the motor. ...

This is a shot in the dark ... spray your antenna with some cleaner or lubricant product. WD-40 comes to mind though this is not a true lubricant. Put a rag at the base of the antenna to keep the spray off the finish of your Toyota.

I hope this works for you ...

Front passenger Window only will go up when driver door is open, Trunk pull down is not working, and the radio antennae will not retract.

if you try to operate the window as you move the door from close to open and it works then stops when moving the door then it could be the wiring that passes from the body of the car to the door itself were the door should have a rubber cover that covers the wiring.these have a tendency to brake wires in this area that will touch and not touch when the door is moved.the trunk and antenna could be a fuse problem that can be checked with a test light.when you turn off the radio do you hear the motor working,if so then the antenna motor will have to be should also hear the trunk pull down motor working.does it raise up with the trunk lid open or stay could need replacing.make sure the connector hasn`t been disconnected.

The antenna on my 94 Cutlass Supreme no longer goes down. I can hear the motor on it buzzing as I turn off the car. Radio still works fine. How expensive to have this fixed?

Hello: You will have to replace the antenna, The dealer antenna will be approx 200.00 installed. You could also get a mast antenna for alot less. In the mean time you need to unplug the antenna so it doesn't run the battery down.

My antenna does not go down anymore. Is it

Do you still hear the antenna motor, as if it is trying to goo up & down as usual?
If so, then its likely your antenna is just sticking and needs some graphite lubricant. Ask for it at your local autoparts store..pretty simple to use.
If you don't hear the motor I'd suggest you check the fuses etc. If all is okay there it likely needs replaced.
Good luck!

I have just bought a lovely mazda 323F (s reg) however the electric aerial won't go up even though the motor (and the stereo) appears to be working. I have put some WD40 on it, is there anything else I can...

Does the antenna motor make any sound when you turn on the radio? (you should be able to hear it when it goes up and down. If you hear nothing, the antenna motor should be checked, as it may have burned out. If you hear something, the gears have probably stripped, so the motor runs, but won't extend and retract the antenna. countrycurt0
