Hi there, i bought a RENAULT CLIO 1.4 RT Elize 1999 model, while driving it just stopped but when i turned it on the dashboard was on and the electric windows were working but coudn't get it to start. i took it in and they said it could be many things and they changed the cambelt; waterpump and inlet & exhaust valves but still it won't start now they are saying my key needs reprogramming and it will take 10 working days to get one. Please help is there a way of reprogramming a key?

Try pressing the D3 button on your gear shift - little button below the main one. D3 allows for quick acceleration, but the light also shows when the car is locked is gear ('limp home mode') due to another problem.

Just to agree with ClioNZ on the issue of dash board lights and rear lights not working: I did exactly what he suggested, and it turned out that it was one of the three connectors by the bonnet release that was giving the problem (on my car, it's a square shaped, black coloured "plug").

I just plugged it out and back in, and everything is back to normal.
