Question about 2000 Ford Focus

1 Answer

My 2000 ford focus seems to be pretty loud. When outside the car, it sounds perfectly normal, but inside the vehicle it sounds like a car with no muffler almost. It doesnt change when using the a/c, and it starts when i first start, or when im accelterating. but it doesnt always happen when accelerating. if that makes any sense. but it stops when im idling or in park.

I have a loud squealing noise upon starting the car. the squealing normally lasts about 30-45 seconds. sometimes the noise will appear aftrer pulling off from a stopped position, as well. all belts

Try to tighten the belts a little firm.Sounds like when engine idling no squelling only when about to take off .Some times belts may seem ok on the outside but if you look on inner side you tend to see cracks in the belts .

Loud thumping and whinning noise

It sounds like you have a lot of wear on your ping and pinion gears in the rear end. Ford has a product you can purchase from their parts dept that will help with the noise but eventually you will need to get the gears replaced. The product is a friction modifier designed just for rear ends.
