Question about Mitsubishi Montero

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi montero limited 3.0l and had I changed the sparkplugs and reinstalled upper intake with new gaskets. I had the battery disconnected during the work and when I tried to start the engine, it cranks but won't start? I can take out the #1 sparkplug and it has gas on it so I dried it and put it back and something won't start but it wants to. Is there anything else I can check? Dan

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. Remove the bolts holding the water inlet to reveal the thermostat.

Antifreeze leak under transmission.

unfortunally this is a problem with your upper intake gasket, or a freeze plug located on the back of the heads, this will require engine removal, if only upper intake leaks this is a on car repair no need to remove eng. asuming your eng has not been overheated, because of eng heads warped. god look

2001 mitsubishi montero limited light on service engine soon 110000 milege burning smell from engine oil ok transmission oil ok coolant ok

look hard around your valve cover or your spark plugs holes especially #3 and #5. i found mine on 3 and 5 spark plugs. oil sometimes drip down to hot eng and smell like burn oil. possibility your valve cover that seal your spark plug hole is worn out and leak around the valve cover and straight down to hot area. replacing valve cover gasket is not easy and if you take it shop will cost you over $1000.00 because of intake manifold and a lots of hardwares to remove. shop around before you take it to the shop. if you do it your self with a friend make sure you take picture for every lines ,bolts sensor plugs and so on you remove. also may as well tune up or change your spark plugs. good luck

How do I install new sparkplugs in mitsubishi montero sport?

first you have to remove the upper intake plenum and most everything attached to it coils hoses throttle body brackets .then remove the plug wires from the plugs ans change the plugs make sure you use only denso or ngk iridium plugs install them install plug wires then the plenum, its a chore the first couple times just make sure you mark anything if you cant remember where it goes and you do not have to remove the t'body from engine just take the four bolts out and push it out of the way
