Question about 1998 Buick Riviera

1 Answer

The Climate control system on my 98 Buick Riviera is not functioning properly. The system will erratically flash and the display will show broken numbers. Occasionally the system will beep like a button is being pushed. Even if the system is set to off it will sometimes start to do the same thing. The problem is intermittent will start and stop within the same trip.

This could be a ground bus connection that is bad. You have to take the whole panel out again and trace wires to see where the ground bus connection is .

Climate control push buttons work sometimes and not

The climate control cpu could be going bad. My Riviera had a fried plug that went to the climate cpu and I replaced just that. To check it out it can be found behind the glovebox.

GM '97 Buick Le Sabre Climate Control flashing display

I did the exact thing with my '98 buick LeSabere. I am certain that the dealer would have to look at the components and relays and fuses. I had problems with Precision tune mechanics telling me there is nothing wrong with the electrical system, even though I still get a Flashing temp gauge and do not get FULL heat even when it's blasted to 90ºf . [Precision Tune got heat on the windshield and floor.] Moreover, the car is possessed with glitches; I am not getting heat on the windshield and the floor is not hot enough to warm the cabin.

98 buick lesable blower motor stop working?

Automatic climate control uses a temperature sensor to detect cabin temp. I would look at that circuit for the problem, as it may be getting erratic readings from the sensor to the control unit, causes the blower to become confused to the air temperature in the car. You could probably find the entire climate control unit in a salvage yard to swap it out for a low price.

93 Buick LeSabre with nonresponsive climate control buttons

this system has self testing capabilities, have any GM dealer test it for codes and proper function, If I had to guess I would say the climate control head is defective.
