Right below the water pump on the passenger side. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1035102020028475244oPQQEZ

The sensor was a recall item so you might get the dealer to change it for free... And they are cheap from the dealer as well.

Sure could use some good feedback.. Hope this gets you going.

SOURCE: where is the cam sensor

They are located as follows: the cam sensor on the 2.4 engine is mounted on the side of the front camshaft, right next to the fuel rail you will see the wires following to it and the crank sensor is located right above the oil filter on the engine. Hope this helps

Code p1391 99 grand cherokee limited 4.7 wont start

Try unplugging the cam sensor and then try to start. The cam sensor is on the underside of the passenger head towards the front of the engine. Is is accessible from under the vehicle. If it starts replace the cam sensor. Iffy it still does not start replace the crank sensor and the cam sensor. The crank sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine block behind the starter. The starter will need to be remove to acces the sensor. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

I replaced the distributor, coil ignition module cam position sensor and still no spark in a 99 dodge avenger what could be the problem

Often, modules and sensors are not the problem, rather the wiring that connects them. Check wiring attached to each of the items mentioned to see if signals are being transmitted to and from them according to factory specs. (specs are often difficult to acquire) Also check fuses. Not so sure about the 99 Avenger but most vehicles to not determine spark timing soley from the cam shaft positioning sensor, rather the crank shaft positioning sensor. Also, the ignition coil on late model vehicles are nortorious for failing because of heat cracking the plastic housing.

Swapped a 1999 420A engine into a 1995 eclipse (also a 420A) and we have no spark. We started by checking the cam sensor and it is working properly it is upside down from the 95 but the ASD relay is...

first the cam sensor shouldn't be upside down from the 95. they both should be with the plug facing down. they 95 CAS has a different plug than the 99 CAS.
the 95 has round pins and the 99 has flat pins.

besides that it could be the ecu. i also have heard of the locating pin on the intake cam shearing off, allowing the gear to turn with the timing belt without the actual camshaft spinning.

Have a 99 taurus 3.0 ohc had a P0340 code changed sensor and synonizer used tool to locate when installing put motor at TDC first now next day get P1309 Do i need to redu complete process again?

I would recheck your setting as this can be generated if the Cam Sensor is not quite in synch. This is a very common code to appear post Cam Position Sensor replacement.

Shake or gentle tug on the wiring harness and try starting the engine! I found that my problem was with the cam sensor wiring harness
