Question about Mitsubishi Montero

Open Question

I had my Pajero 45,000 km service done by Mitsubishi, Alice Springs,N>T> Australia.Shortly afterwards I drove to Williams Creek via Coober Peedy. The road from Coober Peedy to Williams Creek(about 170 km)was unpaved and occasionally there was water in the floodways. I am an experienced 4 wheel driver, and drove carefully though these spots. On the way back to Alice Springs I ran into trouble, and had to be towed back. The verdict of Mitsubishi, Alice Springs was water in the timing chamber which they refused to repair under warranty as they said the problem was due to me faulty driving. I rejected this answer as I cannot understand how water could have entered the timing chamber unless the seals were either faulty or weren't installed correctly. PS Amnot sure if Montero is the same as the Pajero

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

No, timing chains are not expected to be replaced periodically like belts. Ocassionally they get noisey at high mileages and require a new tensioner pad but usually the chain is OK with a new pad

Check the idler arm and pittman arm, then the tie rod ends for ANY play. The pittman arm is the one on the steering gearbox that connects to the tie rod, and the idler arm is the one that connects from the tie rod to the frame. Replacing the parts is a pretty inexpensive and straightforward job, but you will need to have the wheels re-aligned afterwards.

How do i know if i need transmission oil for my pajero 2001

Probably more than you want to know, but here is the workshop manual on the transmission. I had a friend with a Pajero, and it had some kind of jangling bell if he went over 68 mph. Drove us mad going to the airport on a 325 mile trip.

Next you need to check the brakes for grabbing. Usually a brake hose that beginning to clog up causes a pull to one side. Calipers can also lock and pull. Next time you drive check the heat coming off the wheels. The hottest one is one that is grabbing. Be careful touching the rims, some can get so hot as to give you second degree burns.
