My 2000 F150 just passed emmsion 2 weeks ago let my son drive it started to run bad cheek engine lite came on codes were P0743,P0755,P1747,P0443,P1451,P0135,P0141,P0155,P0161and P1409?Help

with that many fault codes each one with an ECM as a possible cause , I suggest that you check items like battery voltage and charge rate, ground wires and terminals , harness connections at the ECM for water and corrosion
or substitute the ECM with a know serviceable unit to see if the fault codes come back

I would replace CATalitic converter, this car is old, plus a tuneup is 100% necessary , spark plugs wires, ditributor cap & rotor, plus both the air & fuel filters need replaced. change oil & filter. then you will pass emissions test. and your car will run like its suppose too. if you don't do all this , then buy a new car !

Car failed emmsion test

It failed the test and you didn't have any check engine codes?

Was this a tailpipe test? What part did you fail? If you have high HC's than the car needs a tune up and a injector leakdown test. The injectors start to leak when they are worn and can increase unburned HC's.

High CO emissions indicates incomplete combustion. A new air filter and a tune up can help with this. Air flow sensors going bad can sometimes add to this problem.

It is high NOx? That would be a catalyst problem and may require a replacement. Sometimes you can just run a fuel system cleaner through a fresh tank of gas to help clear things out. Ever heard of the product called "Guaranteed To Pass"?

If your engine is smoking like the rings or the valves are worn might need to rebuild or replace the motor.

If you have engine codes run them down to the bad components and replace them. O2 sensors are always suspect at times like this.

Good luck and be safe!

High CO on state emmision testing

High CO is caused by too much fuel. The carburetor needs adjusted or rebuilt.

Failed emissions high co on Nissan Maxima

You could have a dirty air filter, if so change it. Check that your oil is just below maximum ( I normally have the oil just above 3/4 on the dip stick). Also you could add Stop Smoke to your oil to help cut down on the CO's. Also clean out all your breather pipes.
