SOURCE: vw passat code p3081 what is it? And how do i fix

p3081 is the error code for the engine not reaching correct operating temperature. It could be an issue with the thermostat or the ECT (coolant temperature sensor) valve.

As far as how to repair those items, your best bet is to purchase a repair manual. It will save a lot of time and frustration.
Good luck hope this helps.

SOURCE: vw passat code p3081 what is it? And how do i fix

I had the same problem on my 03' VW Passat with a V-6 engine. The OBD engine check code P3081 indicated and issue with the fuel emission which was related to incorrect engine operating temperature. The radiator cooling fan was always "ON' irregardless of the hot or cold engine temp. Since I had a similar problem on my older 89' Golf Cabriolet, I reckoned it was just a matter of replacing the thermal switch for the radiator fan. I bought a thermal switch from an independent VW parts supplier and had it installed by a mechanic from an independent repair shop. Problem solved! The radiator fan now only turns on when the engine is at the optimal operating temperature and the the code P3081 no longer appears on the OBD scanner.

Wheels out of balance. Engine mount last most cause. Alleayd wait 15-to30 minutes to warm up the car. Is it safe to drive? Not work it the risk and later costs. You could worn good tires out. Just get it balance at any shop it'll worth the fix.

I have a passat 1.9tdi saloon. my problem is that it lost its oomph and cut back to 2000 revs max.what is happening

Known as 'Limp-Home' mode

Limp home is a protective override, this means the ECU has detected something potentially fatal to the engine.

*DON'T PANIC*

Because it is now in that mode you are safe but it will need a garage / auto store to plug in and pull out the information as to why it has happen.

Unfortunately at this point it is guess work without the codes, just get it seen to immediately, refrain from driving any distance.

If you like, let me know the codes in the system and I will will inform you of the cheapest, most effective solution.

Best regards and good luck

Safe means you have to key in a code for the radio to be unlocked. You are given three chances and then you must wait two hours before you try again. I'm not sure how you find out what the code is if you don't have it already.
