Question about 1996 Chevrolet Corsica
I have a 1996 chevy corsica that wont start. It just died while I was driving it and now won't start. No engine light came on and it is getting gas and spark plugs have fire. What else could it be?
Several things to look at
1 start with alternator is worn out i would check this first
2 the fuel filters all of them is cloged or installed in properly
they tend to have 3 one in engine compartment one under the chasis close to the tank and one actually in the tank its called the sending unit with a filter on end depending on milelage this does need to replaced after 100 thousand miles
3 bad computer module
4 the actual spark plug wires are not connected properly or out of order or eec << spell check this for the actual for cap
5 timing is off on the vehicle
6 cracked or faulty throtle body injection air intake mixture housing you will find this connected to the air filter remove whole air filter assembly then run vehicle it will run ruff without this assembly but will run
7 the car will run rough with bad oxygen sensor but it should still turn over
8 a mouse or small animal had made its way up the muffler pipes which has cut off the output so the car cant breathe
9 someone poured sugar in your tank or put ping pong ball in tank this would result in hicups
10 bad capasiter (spell check) ignition coil
11 bad relay for starter
12 bad battery even though battery can show good doesnt mean that it really is good it could have a dead cell test with a jump once started vehicle disconnect positive on battery this will show 2 things one bad alternator cause it wont power system it will also show a dead cell in battery
13 a/c compressor bearing went out and is frozen stuck this is also where you get a stall in motor
14 there is a major vacume leak in vehicle i would start the vacume inspection with the brake master cylinder on fire wall this will severly not start your vehicle
these are the things i can think of off the top of my head without actually being there inperson to see the vehicle that will make it hard to start or hiccuping
also some of these items will not show on computer diagnosis seeing there more mechanical than electrical
i hope this helped you in your quest
