Question about 1997 BMW 328

1 Answer

I have a 1996 BMW 328IS iwth 112k miles and the computer goes on and off without reason, that I can determine. When its on it works fine although there is a large looks like an ink block on the screen which lights up when the computer is working. Recently I put in a new battery and the computer worked all that day, next day nothing. Checked all fuses, all ok, Help? Tend to think its electrical since it works every now and then. Help?

I have replaced my dme 3 times. water gets into that box and corrodes the dme inside.

remove your dme and clean the contacts on the circuit board with some alcohol and a tooth brush.

in addition, a smart move would be to cleans as many electrical conatcts as you can with a electrical contact cleaner and then apply some di-electric grease to each contact.

I've fix DME operations this way as well as intermittent ASC erors and even stiff steering for low speed operations.

BMW 96 328 IS 112k miles, computer goes on and off which obviously controls all air and heat; any suggestions?

I think maybe you have a problem with the cabin fan motor. First action is to check the fuse for the circuit, if its loose lighten the connetions....Do the same to the relay and also make sure that its function is correct. It may be defective....Regards Johngee
