Crack all the injector lines at the injectors and crank the engine until fuel starts coming out and then tighten all of them back up.

SOURCE: A Dodge pick up. What should I look for when air

A malfuctioning fuel injector may cause several different things to occur. For the dodge, they actually have a mind of their own as the car manufacturer decided they wanted a unique system of fuel injection, at least different then that of most systems. The control valve may act up and not allow fuel to inject at intervals. Instead, it may take be clogged with debri, gunk, and other trash which needs to be serviced in a shop to be repaired. One very common activity with your fuel injector is it may cause the valve to stay closed and burn gas in a manner that is inconsistent with normal gas usage, the vehicle will start to blow out black and dark smoke out the rear end, trick your cars oxygen sensor, and allow the system to burn a larger amount of fuel for the same mileage. This problem needs to be solved in a shop where the equipment is available to make adjustments and flush out your system.

Hi all just changed the fuel filter in my 2008 lancer now wont start i suspect the fuel pump is this common cheers phil

is this a diesel? if so you have got air in the system there is a bleeding system you should follow after filter change which normally involves switching ignition on/off 6or 8 times with few secs in between with ign on to bleed air from system if it got a electric fuel delivery!. or if its mechanical a vacuum prime pump is needed which may be a dealer bit of kit which ever it is dont try and start until the air has been removed. you must not get air in to tha high pressur side. i suspect @2008 it will be common rail system and can cause major probs if you get air in the high pressure side not easy to advise you dont say what engine you have. if its petrol then changing the fuel filter should not cause a prob if fitted correctly,if its common rail diesel and you have got air in the high pressure side you have to slacken the high pressure pipes and keep cranking the engine to exclude the air after 1st bleeding the low pressue side of the system then retighten the pipes. but any high pressure pipes loosened should be renewed they are normally one use only and could leak if not good luck

WHAT CAUSES HARD START AFTER FUEL RAN OUT

Try bleeding the system again. Sounds like there is still some air in the fuel system.

check your lines to make sure you haven't got a blockage to the common rail as well as making sure your fuel pump isn't nackered.

I have a 1984 Ford F250XL diesel and i was wanting to not could i take out my fuel rails without having any problems when i put them back in as long that i am careful

The fuel rails are the injection lines they usually only go on one way and remember to put the vibration clamps back on. but after installation it takes 2 people to bleed the lines leave them loose on the injector side crank engine until bubbles are seen then tighten this will purge the air out of the lines to make it start easier

When I drive along it's all fine, but when I put my foot down the car starts to skip like its short of fuel.

Do not do anything if it is a common rail diesel without more instruction. Common rail can be very dangerous & the following instructions are not for common rail. Probably is short of fuel. When was the fuel filter last replaced & the sediment trap drained. A lot of diesels also have a lint filter (fine mesh) located in the pump where the fuel line goes out of the filter into the pump. You just remove & blow out with compressed air. Do you know how to prime & bleed the system. Did the problem start just after haveing a fuel filter fitted?

I have a chevy c3500 with a 6.5 turbo diesel, the times that it has happened

to me was because of a dirty fuel filter or water, most diesel have a bleed off

valve to dissipate any accesss water in the fuel line, on my truck is located

on the right front side of the engine . you bleed it off when the engine is

turned off. good luck

Diesel 7.3 ran out of fuel and now will not start. Should we bleed the rail line, and if so, where is that located?

remove fuel filter and fill with diesel but it back on. Losen fuel lines at injectors. spin over to you see fuel at injectors don't spin for more then 3 seconds at a time. Tight lines backup start engine

How to restart a diesel ford 6.9

crack the line loose at injector pump and pressurize the tank to force fuel through the line and forcing out the air. Or same method can be done on the fuel rails.
