Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

2002 jeep grand cherakee auto with a 4.0l. jeep is hard starting. you need to give it gas, and then it will not run on its own for a bit. after it is warm it seems to start good. if you unhoock the battery...

It is possible that it is getting to much fuel to the engine. I would check the fuel filter first though. It may be clogged. Make sure that your battery terminals and your wires are in good shape and there are not no tears. Make sure they are not coming loose after you put them back on. Your fuel pump may be beginning to wear down as well.

How to change the fuel filter on a 2003 grand jeep cherokee

The Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Regulator is combinated component in your Jeep; this is remotely mounted to the vehicle body, above the rear axle and near the front of the fuel tank (Fig 25 & 26 of the Repair Manual).

Check the WJ Service Manual Section-14-Fuel-System-Ewj14 (page 15 and next).

Hope helps with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.
